JOB SUMMARY: The Director of Landscape Development is responsible for leading the strategic growth, profitability, and overall performance of Coldspring's Landscape Products business throughout the Midwest region of the United States (Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, Nebraska, North & South Dakota). This leadership role provides direction for sales, business development, customer acquisition, product strategy, channel development, and market expansion while ensuring alignment with Coldspring's strategic initiatives and corporate objectives.


The Director develops and executes both short-term and long-term business strategies that drive revenue growth, market share expansion, profitability, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction. This position works collaboratively with Sales, Operations, Manufacturing, Marketing, Product Development, Supply Chain, and Executive Leadership to strengthen Coldspring's leadership position within the landscape industry.


This role is responsible for developing strategic relationships with distributors, landscape dealers, architects, contractors, designers, municipalities, and key residential customers while identifying emerging market opportunities and new channels for growth.


Travel of approximately 50–70% is required throughout the Midwest with occasional travel to national customers, industry trade shows, and corporate meetings.


WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Develop and execute the long-term strategic vision for the Midwest Landscape Products Division.
  • Create annual operating plans, sales strategies, budgets, and growth initiatives that align with corporate objectives.
  • Identify emerging market trends, competitive opportunities, and customer needs to drive sustainable growth.
  • Lead all Midwest landscape sales activities to achieve revenue, profitability, market share, and margin objectives.
  • Develop sales strategies for distributors, dealers, designers, contractors, architects, municipalities, and residential landscape customers.
  • Establish annual sales goals, pricing strategies, and performance metrics.
  • Monitor sales performance and implement corrective actions to exceed financial objectives.
  • Drive specification development and project acquisition throughout targeted Midwest markets.
  • Develop new business opportunities through strategic partnerships and market expansion.
  • Build relationships with key customers, distributors, landscape contractors, and industry influencers.
  • Represent Coldspring at regional as well as major industry trade shows, professional organizations, and customer events.
  • Collaborate with Product Management/Inside Sales and Marketing to develop new landscape product offerings.
  • Recommend pricing strategies, product positioning, merchandising, and promotional initiatives.
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Operations, Logistics, and Customer Service to optimize customer experience and operational efficiency.
  • Analyze business performance using KPIs and implement action plans to improve results.
  • Ensure achievement of annual financial and strategic objectives.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • At least 3 years of industry-related experience
  • Proven success driving revenue growth, profitability, and market expansion.
  • Excellent negotiation, presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong understanding of distribution channels, dealer development, and commercial project sales.
  • Experience utilizing CRM systems (Salesforce, HubSpot, Microsoft Dynamics, or equivalent) to manage pipelines, forecasting, and customer relationships.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data and financial performance metrics.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and business intelligence tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities while adapting to changing business conditions.

The pay range for this position is to represent compensation for an individual’s base salary. Total compensation is based on salary plus applicable commissions. Starting base salary is based on skills and experience, geographic location, and is at the discretion of the hiring supervisor. (Base salary + commission)
