Job DetailsJob Location: Houston, TX 77056Brown Sims, a respected firm, is seeking a Director of Information Systems for its Houston office. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for the firm’s technology infrastructure, security, and support across Houston, New Orleans, Gulfport, and South Florida offices. There is also a significant remote workforce. The Director will oversee the firm's Help Desk team and serve as the primary technology advisor to firm management, translating business needs into reliable, secure IT solutions.

How Will You Make a Difference?
  • Lead and manage the firm’s overall Information Systems function, including infrastructure, security, applications, and end-user support.
  • Supervise and mentor the Help Desk team, setting priorities, reviewing work, and ensuring timely resolution of support requests firm wide.
  • Partner directly with firm management to understand business technology needs and translate them into practical, cost-effective IT solutions and strategic recommendations.
  • Administer and maintain the firm’s server infrastructure, directory services, and cloud environment.
  • Oversee the firm’s productivity/collaboration platform, email security, and secure file transfer solutions.
  • Manage network security infrastructure, including firewalls and secure web/cloud access controls.
  • Administer endpoint protection, security event/log monitoring, and multi-factor authentication solutions.
  • Own backup and disaster recovery operations, including monitoring, testing, and immutability compliance.
  • Support and maintain legal-specific applications, including document management, time and billing, and financial management systems.
  • Evaluate, deploy, and support internal applications, acting as gatekeeper for code review, security assessment, and production deployment.
  • Develop and enforce IT policies, procedures, and security standards, including third-party tool vetting and compliance.
  • Manage relationships with technology vendors and service providers, including contract review and renewal.
  • Plan and manage the IT budget in coordination with firm management.
  • Travel to New Orleans, Gulfport, and South Florida offices as needed (approximately 10%) to support local technology needs.
  • Support and maintain reliable, secure connectivity and technology experience for the firm’s remote workforce.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of systems, configurations, and procedures.
  • Respond to and lead resolution of critical IT incidents and outages.
What Will You Bring to the Table?
  • Proven experience leading IT operations for a professional services or law firm environment, including direct supervision of support staff.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical issues into business terms for firm leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, prioritize, and support a small technical team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Self-starter capable of working independently with minimal supervision and exercising sound judgment under pressure.
  • Willingness to travel to other firm offices as needed (approximately 10%).
  • Relevant certifications in Security, Microsoft/Azure, or Networking a plus.
