Job Description
Ameriprise is hiring a Director of Strategic Insights! Join us in shaping enterprise-wide strategies through meaningful insights that drive business decisions. In this role, you'll lead strategic and cross-functional projects to establish needs, design recommendations, and provide solutions that deliver actionable recommendations that influence the future of our organization. You'll lead client experience measurement, identify and synthesize key findings, concise implications, and thoughtful recommendations based on the research while partnering closely with business leaders as a trusted advisor and help build a culture of data-driven decision-making.
Key responsibilities
  • Lead strategic research initiatives that deliver actionable insights for business units and enterprise-wide strategies. Collaborate across diverse areas of the organization to identify trends, challenges, and opportunities, and design research approaches that meet business objectives.
  • Develop and execute research methodologies-both qualitative and quantitative-using tools such as Excel and Qualtrics. Analyze data, integrate secondary sources when relevant, and synthesize findings into clear, meaningful insights.
  • Champion the voice of the customer by leading client experience measurement programs. Translate feedback into trends and recommendations that inform strategic initiatives, enhance client experiences, and drive business performance.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to team members while partnering with senior leaders on team culture, training, and capability-building. Identify opportunities to advance market research tools, systems, and methodologies, ensuring compliance and operational excellence.
  • Tell compelling data stories by combining multiple data sources-behavioral, qualitative, quantitative, and syndicated research-into accessible narratives. Communicate insights through reports, presentations, and other formats that influence decision-making and inspire action.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of experience with proven ability to design research methodologies, analyze data, and translate findings into business strategies.
  • Experience leading and mentoring others.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to connect insights to broader business questions and propose clear implications.
  • Skilled in project management and able to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and advocate for insights with senior leaders.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree focus or coursework in business, marketing, market research, statistics, data analytics, data science, economics, consumer insights, or applied social sciences.
  • Experience in financial services or other complex organizations.
  • Track record of building and coaching high-performing insights employees.
  • Demonstrates curiosity, openness to diverse perspectives, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving
  • Leading organization-wide client experience measurement/voice of the customer programs.

In-Office Collaboration
We are a client-centric, relationship-based business. Working together, in-person, is foundational to how we achieve results. By fostering a culture of face-to-face collaboration, idea sharing, productivity and personal connection, we deliver for our stakeholders - clients, advisors, employees and shareholders. Our employees work in the office at least four (4) days per week, with flexibility to work from home one (1) day per week. Some roles may require additional in-office time or different in-office expectations, and specific requirements will be discussed during the hiring process.

Base Pay Salary
The estimated base salary for this role is $131,000 - $180,100 / year. We have a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy. Your initial total compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographical work location. In addition, most of our roles are eligible for variable pay in the form of bonus, commissions, and/or long-term incentives depending on the role. We also have a competitive and comprehensive benefits program that supports all aspects of your health and well-being, including but not limited to vacation time, sick time, 401(k), and health, dental and life insurances.
