Senior Director of ACS Software and Solutions Engineering
Description -
The Senior Director of Software within ACS will serve as the strategic development leader for HP's software solutions for core workstations and edge AI platforms. The role takes care of the overall design and delivery of key software engineering projects; executing all aspects of the long-term product vision, which includes incubation of new concepts, software solution delivery, validation, sustaining activities, as well as business, financial, and team management.
Job Summary
  • This role is responsible for establishing and executing the vision and goals for the software engineering department. The role is responsible for overseeing the overall design and delivery of key software engineering projects. The role has expertise in a broad set of technologies and is often consulted on the design and delivery of new solutions. The role acts as a strategic thought partner to customers, advocates their needs, and proposes new product offerings as necessary. The role provides leadership & guidance to the team across multiple disciplines, such as technological, business, financial, and team management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own the technical direction and execution of AI solutions within ACS, from architecture through delivery at scale
  • Lead organization of engineering, QA, and DevOps; driving alignment, execution rigor, and delivery excellence with an emphasis in rapid prototyping
  • Drive on-prem capabilities as a core focus area, ensuring solutions are performant, scalable, and differentiated on HP devices
  • Deliver architecture and engineering execution for solutions spanning on-device and cloud services
  • Partner closely with Product, Hardware, Security, Privacy, and External Partners to deliver integrated, high-quality solutions
  • Oversee solution quality, reliability, integrations, and long-term competitiveness
  • Translate business and product needs into clear technical priorities, roadmaps, and feature delivery plans
  • Identify and mitigate technical, delivery, and operational risks across complex dependencies
  • Own budget planning, investment estimates, and future funding needs for product incubation and solutions portfolio
  • Coach, develop, and retain top engineering talent; fostering growth, accountability, and HP leadership behaviors

Required Experience & Capabilities
  • Senior-level engineering leader (Director / Sr. Director) with experience in AI/ML software
  • Proven experience leading shipped enterprise solutions at scale
  • Strong on-device AI expertise (critical) with experience delivering AI on constrained or edge environments
  • Working knowledge of cloud-based AI services and hybrid architectures (cloud + on-device)
  • Experience managing software with high visibility and business impact
  • Ability to balance deep technical credibility with strong business and commercial acumen
  • Demonstrated success operating in matrixed, global organizations
  • Strong cross-functional leadership skills and ability to influence without authority

Preferred Background
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 10+ years in the software industry
  • 5+ years leading software engineering organizations
  • Prior hands-on experience as a software architect, engineer, or technical lead
  • Exposure to hardware is a strong plus
