Position: Director of Software Development
Location: St. Paul, MN (HYBRID- 2 days WFH, 3 days in office)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00AM-5:00PM (Full-Time)

Purpose of Position:
As a Director of Software Development at West Shore Home, you will provide strategic leadership for all software development across the Digital Product team by setting the overall technical direction, driving alignment between the development organization and the product roadmap, and building a high-performing engineering culture. This role also plays a critical part in advancing the team's adoption of AI-assisted development tools and next-generation software engineering models, positioning West Shore Home's Digital Product team for continued growth and innovation.
Key Role Accountabilities:
  • Ownership over the strategic direction of software development across the Digital Product team, ensuring alignment with the product roadmap, business objectives, and cross-functional stakeholder priorities.
  • Responsible for technical architecture decisions, development standards, and platform evolution spanning web, mobile, and supporting technologies.
  • Lead and develop a team of Software Development Managers and Staff Software Developers; ensure Software Development Managers are empowered to manage day-to-day team operations, resource allocation, and sprint-level execution.
  • Establish and enforce software development standards, coding best practices, security protocols, monitoring, and quality benchmarks across all development teams.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without requiring current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. The company does not and will not sponsor employment visas.
  • 10+ years of progressive software development experience with 5+ years of software development leadership experience, required, including management of engineering managers, preferred.
  • Demonstrated track record of setting technical strategy and driving architecture decisions in a product-driven environment.
  • Experience providing input and recommendations on tooling selection, vendor evaluation, and third-party development partnerships in collaboration with leadership.
  • Demonstrated exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire, develop, and hold accountable a high-performing technical organization.
  • Deep understanding of modern software development methodologies, including Agile/Scrum and DevSecOps.
  • Proficiency with cloud-based development environments, CI/CD pipelines, and software architecture patterns.

Compensation:
  • The approximate salary range for this position is $175,000-$215,000 annually. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location of the position.
