Position Summary
The Universityof New Mexico seeks a dynamic, results-oriented leader with a strong retail financial background to provide strategic direction and professionalmanagement of the day-to-day business operations for the UNM Bookstores. We are a multi store, multi-million dollarbusiness that is committed to supporting the academic mission of the Universityof New Mexico through innovation, collaboration, and maintaining a standard ofexcellence.
Reportingto the Director, the Retail Financial Manager, is a key member of theBookstore's leadership team. The successful candidate will have experience inmanaging all financial aspects of a retail organization. The Retail FinancialManager provides input and direction on all business related activities, withfiscal oversight of multiple stores with over $12 million in sales. Departmentsreporting directly to this position include Accounts Payable, AccountsReceivable, Cash Room, and Administrative Support. This individual must haveadvanced proficiency with Excel, and experience with an enterprise-wide integrated financialsystem, preferably Banner. Thefinancial/fiscal operations of the organization, include the development andadministration of operating budgets and expenditures, reconciliation of bothoperating and general ledger activity, billing and receiving charges forstudent accounts, monthly financial reporting and forecasting, and theestablishment and management of financial control systems and processes.
Theideal candidate will have experience in retail accounting, with anunderstanding of retail operations, margins, cost of goods sold (COGS),inventory turns and valuation, and financial reporting.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field
  • Prior experience managing financial operations in a retail environment
  • Experience with Banner Finance or similar integrated financial system
  • Demonstrated experience in evaluating financial operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures
  • Prior experience in developing and managing a large and diverse operating budget
  • Demonstrated experience in compiling, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting complex, customizable reports, statements and revenue projections to various audiences utilizing diverse management information systems
  • Demonstrated experience in collaboration, establishing partnerships, and successfully establishing relationships within the department and university
