SF – 191 Director of Quality Assurance

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Director of Quality Assurance to lead and oversee QA programs across all phases of structural steel fabrication and erection. This role ensures products meet the highest standards of quality, integrity, and efficiency while driving continuous improvement and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in quality management, strong leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate across engineering, fabrication, and project teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and oversee quality assurance programs for structural steel fabrication and erection.
  • Ensure all materials, welds, fabrication processes, and erection procedures meet or exceed codes and standards (AWS, AISC, ASTM).
  • Drive continuous improvement to enhance efficiency, reduce defects, and strengthen QA practices.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and fabrication teams to resolve quality issues.
  • Lead supplier and subcontractor qualification and compliance monitoring.
  • Manage QA documentation, inspections, certifications, and audit readiness.
  • Mentor and lead a team of QA professionals, fostering a culture of safety and quality.
  • Act as the client-facing point of contact for QA matters.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (or equivalent industry experience).
  • 10+ years in QA management within structural steel fabrication and erection.
  • Strong knowledge of welding, fabrication, and erection processes.
  • Expertise in AWS, AISC, ASTM standards and building codes.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems.
  • Skilled in QA software, reporting systems, and inspection tools.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred

  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or similar certification.
  • Experience leading large-scale structural steel projects.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.

Work Environment
Hybrid role with flexible options: Pleasanton, CA headquarters or offices in SF Bay Area, Dallas, TX, or Houston, TX. Remote work available 1–2 days per week.
