What You'll Do
As a Director of Projects, you will provide project management leadership to a group of project managers, from scope conception through engineering, fabrication, construction, and execution for all projects within a defined geography or specialty. You will be responsible for managing all assigned projects throughout the entire project cycle (end-to-end). Other duties include:
  • Demonstrate and/or lead the commitment to the pursuit of achieving Zero Harm through behavioral based safety. (Ensure Safe Act Observations, JSA, HAZOPs, Process Hazard Analysis, Management of Change, Take 5's, and all safety rules are being completed internally and with contractors.)
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Company HSE Performance Standards, as well as applicable acts and regulations.
  • Live and foster the IPL Corporate Values.
  • Coach or mentors project managers
  • Lead MOC's, FI or Capex projects
  • Prepare and deliver project management training
  • Evaluate and contract prospective equipment suppliers and contractors
  • Contribute to process & equipment solutions and supplier development efforts
  • Deal with broad cross-functional technical issues
  • Deliver the projects as promised (on time and on budget) to achieve financial targets
  • Develop funding strategy to support long term projects, and unbudgeted initiatives.
  • Manage internal resources, and assign project managers to projects as required to meet internal deadlines
  • Incorporate non-capital project managers/ projects into the PMS process

What We're Looking For:
  • BS degree in Engineering (Civil, Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical) preferred.
  • 10+ years in a related industry with a proven track record in project management, problem solving, startup and commissioning.
  • Working knowledge of engineering & construction best practices
  • Familiarity with automated process control in manufacturing operations, including temperature, flow, level, pressure, and pH instrumentation.
  • Knowledge with the selection of process equipment such as pumps, vessels, and heat exchangers
  • Ability to develop, prepare and present projects to key stakeholders
  • Positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and team player
