Job description

Position

Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield, IL is seeking a Director of Cerebrovascular Surgery at the Associate Professor or Professor level. This position is a key member of our growing regional neurosurgical program and reports to the Chair of Neurosurgery, Bruce Frankel, MD.

Program Context

Springfield Memorial Hospital houses one of the nation’s largest and technologically advanced facilities, including the Memorial Center for Learning and the SIU Surgical Skills Training Center. These resources support SIU’s mission to lead in healthcare learning and innovation.

Qualifications
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Neurosurgery
  • Illinois medical licensure required prior to start date
  • Successful completion of a Fellowship in Endovascular Neurosurgery, with or without additional open Cerebrovascular training
  • 5+ years of clinical or academic leadership experience, and demonstrated experience in program development or leadership in cerebrovascular neurosurgery (preferred)
Compensation

The budgeted annual salary range is $450,000 to $495,000, representing the academic base salary only, funded through the University. The final academic base salary will be determined by a thorough assessment of market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget considerations. Additional clinical compensation will be provided separately through a member practice agreement.
