Position Summary

The Director of Nursing (DON) / Health & Wellness Director is responsible for overseeing all clinical operations and resident care services within the community while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and company standards.

This leadership role partners closely with the Executive Director and department leaders to ensure residents receive high-quality, compassionate, and individualized care that enhances quality of life, dignity, and wellbeing.

The ideal candidate is an experienced clinical leader who excels in team management, regulatory compliance, communication, resident care coordination, and building positive relationships with residents, families, and staff.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily clinical operations and resident care services

  • Lead, mentor, schedule, and support nursing and caregiving teams

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and company regulations

  • Conduct resident assessments and oversee care planning processes

  • Monitor resident wellness and coordinate healthcare services

  • Partner with physicians, pharmacies, families, and outside providers

  • Manage medication systems and clinical documentation

  • Ensure quality assurance and infection control practices are maintained

  • Support hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management of clinical staff

  • Assist with survey readiness and regulatory compliance efforts

  • Foster a positive, resident-centered, and team-oriented culture

Qualifications
  • Active RN or LPN license in good standing (based on state requirements)

  • Previous Director of Nursing, Health & Wellness Director, Resident Care Director, or nursing leadership experience preferred

  • Assisted living, memory care, or long-term care experience strongly preferred

  • Strong knowledge of senior living regulations and clinical operations

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills

  • Compassionate, resident-focused approach to care

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Experience with staffing, scheduling, and team development preferred

Physical Demands & Working Conditions
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to assist with resident transfers using transfer belts or mechanical lifts

  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, and bend for extended periods

  • Possible exposure to communicable diseases, infectious diseases, and bloodborne pathogens
