Job description

The Westin at Rancho Mirage Golf Resort & Spa, located in Rancho Mirage, CA, is pleased to announce an excellent career opportunity for Director of Golf! We are seeking a driven individual who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow within a fast-paced hospitality-focused property organization. As part of Troon, you'll contribute to a global leader in golf and community management.
The Director of Golf will oversee all aspects of Golf Operations, including its activities and relationships between members, guests, associates, and the community. Has the ultimate responsibility for maximum member and guest satisfaction and financial performance.
Responsibilities:
  • Develops, implements, and monitors annual budget, revenue goals, and expenses for golf operations department.
  • Provides timely and accurate reporting of all financial and non-financial information as directed, requested, or required by management or representatives.
  • Monitors monthly and other financial reports/statements on a daily, weekly and monthly basis for the facility and takes effective corrective action when necessary.
  • Develops, maintains and administers sound organizational plans and initiates improvements as necessary.
  • Works closely with all of the hotel departments to maximize total property revenue: Sales, PR and F&B.
  • Conduct effective hiring, training, coaching and counselling according to hotel policies.
  • Create a member service-oriented atmosphere that promotes the game of golf and meets the needs of the members.
  • Responsible for implementing and maintaining excellent service to achieve member satisfaction.
  • Oversees the care and maintenance of all the facilities' physical assets.
  • Develops and executes the golf marketing and membership plans with the Director.
  • Ensures the highest standards of quality for food and beverage service on property.
  • Implements policies and procedures for the Golf and Maintenance Departments, including compliance with all company standards relating to quality of products and services.
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Manages department members that may include, but are not limited to, Head Professional, Tournament Coordinator, Director of Instruction, Golf Services Manager, Superintendent, and Retail Manager.
  • Provides leadership and vision to golf staff, building people and preparing them for career advancement. Weekly staff meetings

Qualifications:
  • Must be a member in good standing of the PGA of America or LPGA of America preferred
  • Strong business acumen with demonstrated skills.
  • Successful completion of a recognized Golf Management/Operations program.
  • Experience with a diversity of golf course operations: resort, private, and semi-private
  • Thorough understanding of the Golf Retail industry
  • Must be polished and professional and have excellent communication skills
  • A demonstrated passion for guest service and exceeding expectations.
  • Great computer skills required, including experience with Microsoft Office, tee time reservations, POS, retail inventory, and familiarity with web-based golf partners.

Physical Demands:
  • Regularly stands, walks, sits; uses hands; reaches with hands and arms; talks and hears. Occasionally climbs or balances; stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls; lifts up to 25 pounds.

Environment/Noise:
  • Regularly works in outdoor weather conditions. Noise level is moderate.

Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences:
  • Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates may be required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers; the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English).
  • Thorough understanding of course rotation and tee time arrangement.
