Job description

Position Summary: The Global Engineering Leader has overall accountability for the product development of a key customer account, partnering across function to develop deep knowledge and relationships with the customer to position Shape to win. As a key member of our Product Engineering Team, this leader will be responsible for setting the strategy and day-to-day direction for a product development and design team, exhibiting a high level of leadership, customer focus, and drive to win.
Essential Job Functions include, but not limited to, the following:
  • Develop the overall product development vision, strategy, and supporting work plans for a key customer account
  • Provide day-to-day direction to a global team of product development and product design team members
  • guiding continuous skill development and high performance and ensuring projects are on track and aligned with sound engineering principles.
  • Anticipate, estimate, secure, and develop the global resources needed to ensure successful execution of the Shape OEM strategic plan.
  • Develop and maintain strong, trusted customer relationships by demonstrating deep understanding of customer trends and unmet needs and positioning Shape as a unique solution provider who can meet those needs.
  • Act as primary liaison and escalation point between Advanced Product Development, Sales, and Customer stakeholders for new products and processes as they are developed.
  • Partner with the team to identify opportunities for both incremental and game changing innovation for the customer.
  • Contribute thought leadership to the broader Corporate Engineering Team, providing continuous improvement ideas related to Shape's engineering products, systems, and processes on a regular basis.
  • Maintain global market awareness, proactively identify competitor trends, and anticipate regulatory changes and regional requirements that may impact Shape.
  • Identify and train a back-up(s) to manage key tasks when absent.

Position Skills and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineerings required with Master's Degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of product development engineering experience in the automotive environment.
  • Must have Product Development expertise with Truck Frames.
  • Proven success building strong customer and cross functional stakeholder relationships.
  • Advanced proficiency in all forms of communication.
  • Expert in Shape Internal processes ( DFM/ SPS/ SES....)
  • Proven success managing multiple priorities and complex customer project plans.
  • Prior experience managing a global team of engineering resources, working across time zones and cultures.
  • Willingness and ability to travel globally up to thirty percent of the time.
