    Job Description

    The TV and Satellite Engineering Manager plays an important role in the consistent delivery of global video content in support of Leading The Way's mission. Working with a robust equipment set, this person will support a weekly television program, ongoing studio productions, LIVE video streaming, and a 24/7 satellite television channel. Daily activities include maintaining functionality of all software and services related to production, troubleshooting for video editors, administrating upgrades to operating systems and quality control.

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    Broadcast Engineering

    • Administrate maintenance and monitor functionality of all brands and services related to video editing, e.g. Avid Media Composer/Nexis/Media Central, Adobe Creative Cloud, Spectra Blackpearl, Telestream Vantage/SGL/Flashnet, Quantum Catdv 
    • Troubleshoot any issues for video editors who are both remote and on-site workers 
    • Administrate and coordinate systemwide upgrades with minimal interference to daily production
    • Work with various brand and service support teams to address issues as they arise 
    • Strategize with Media Manager and Executive Producer to maximize on- line and near-line workflows and minimize CAPEX expenditures in storage 
    • Act as ambassador to the IT Department, advocating for network fixes and adjustments  where A/V and IT intersect
    • Implement 3rd party solutions and plugins with Avid Systems 
    • Administrate routing for studio recordings, internet platform-based interviews, and live events to ensure genlock, video/audio signal across all necessary components 
    • Administrate necessary upgrades to operating systems, editing workstations and 3rd Party plugins 
    • Work with Media Manager on SGL, CatDV, and Spectralogic near-line storage solutions
    • Available on site to assist with equipment for live-streaming events, occasionally on weekends
       

    Daily Operations

    • Administrate system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs, such as backups  
    • Investigate and troubleshoot technical issues related to TV operations 
    • Administrate the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of remote access  
    • Research and recommend new solutions to increase efficiency and maximize production  Schedule, prioritize and direct the work of engineering contractors  
    • Assist the IT Department with routine troubleshooting, investigating and projects requiring on-site help as needed  
    • Maintain the accuracy of the organization's database of asset ownership and license renewal records  
    • Identify Ministry needs and shop for software/equipment to meet those needs. Send requests for new purchases along with detailed justification
       
    Qualifications
    • A mature Christian faith and an evident passion for the ministry of Leading The Way
    • Bachelor's degree with a technical or broadcast major, such as engineering, information  technology, or television production
    • 5+ years of experience in an AV/IT/TV Production related setting 
    • Familiarity with Avid and Adobe editing software administration 
    • Familiarity with archiving and storage solutions, digital and LTO tape
    • Familiarity with Telestream Vantage Workflows
    • Understanding of information system networking as it applies to A/V infrastructure  
    • Experience with both Windows and Mac OS
    • Personal qualities of honesty and integrity; attention to detail; able to handle multiple projects in a very methodical manner; good organizational and teamwork skills; self starter; able to work in a fast-paced environment; excellent verbal and written communications skills are a must
    • An excellent record keeper and project manager 
    • Must live in the Metropolitan Atlanta area within a reasonable commuting distance of LTW headquarters
