Description:

The Director of Development will report directly to the Managing Partner and lead our build-to-rent (BTR) development platform. This individual will be responsible for all phases of the development process, including sourcing land opportunities, acquisitions, underwriting, due diligence, entitlements, capital markets, design, construction, lease-up, and stabilization.

The Director of Development will build and lead the development team, establish scalable systems and processes, cultivate key industry relationships, and oversee the successful execution of projects from acquisition through completion while helping shape the firm's long-term growth strategy.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute our long-term build-to-rent (BTR) development strategy.
  • Source and evaluate off-market and marketed land acquisition opportunities throughout the Southeast.
  • Build relationships with landowners, brokers, municipalities, consultants, contractors, lenders, and equity partners.
  • Lead underwriting, financial analysis, due diligence, and investment recommendations.
  • Manage entitlements, rezoning, annexation, permitting, and municipal approvals.
  • Direct architects, engineers, land planners, attorneys, and consultants throughout the design process.
  • Oversee budgeting, scheduling, value engineering, construction, leasing, and stabilization.
  • Coordinate debt and equity financing with capital partners and lenders.
  • Recruit, mentor, and lead a high-performing development team.
  • Establish institutional-quality systems, reporting, and operational processes.
  • Represent us within the development community and maintain key industry relationships.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited University (advanced degree preferred).
  • Significant experience in multifamily and/or build-to-rent development.
  • Demonstrated success leading projects from acquisition through completion.
  • Strong understanding of entitlements, design, construction, capital markets, and development finance.
  • Existing industry relationships throughout the Southeast.
  • Proven leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with high integrity and a collaborative leadership style
