Tarkenton Financial is seeking a motivated, relationship-driven Business Development to join our growing team. This role is responsible for recruiting, developing, and supporting independent financial advisors and insurance professionals while helping them grow their business through consultative sales support, product expertise, and industry-leading marketing resources. 


As a Director of Business Development, you will serve as a trusted partner to advisors by providing sales ideas, product positioning, case support, and business development strategies designed to increase advisor engagement and production. Success in this role is measured by advisor recruitment, relationship development, advisor production growth, and overall sales results.

Key Responsibilities 

Advisor Recruitment & Business Development 

  • Recruit and onboard new financial advisors, insurance agents, and agencies.  
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of prospective advisors through outbound prospecting, referrals, networking, and digital outreach.  
  • Conduct discovery conversations to understand advisor practices and identify growth opportunities.  
  • Present the value of Tarkenton Financial’s products, services, technology, and marketing programs.  

Advisor Relationship Management 

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with a dedicated book of advisors.  
  • Conduct regular outreach to increase advisor engagement, retention, and production.  
  • Help advisors identify opportunities to incorporate life insurance solutions into their client planning strategies.  
  • Create and execute advisor growth plans designed to increase production.  

Product & Sales Support 

  • Provide product guidance, comparative analysis, illustrations, and sales support.  
  • Collaborate with internal teams including case design, underwriting, new business, and operations to support advisor opportunities.  
  • Educate advisors on carrier updates, product enhancements, and industry trends.  
  • Promote sales concepts and marketing strategies that help advisors uncover new opportunities.
