Director of Accounting
Location: Edmond, OK
Organization: Confidential Faith-Based Ministry (Partnered with LHH Recruitment Solutions)
Reports To: Executive Director / CFO
About the Opportunity
LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a respected ministry organization in Edmond, Oklahoma to identify their next Director of Accounting. This leadership role will be responsible for overseeing all accounting functions, financial reporting, compliance, audit activities, budgeting support, and internal controls while serving as a strategic partner to executive leadership.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting leader who desires to combine financial expertise with a mission-driven organization focused on serving its community.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and monthly financial close.
  • Prepare and oversee accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, and all regulatory requirements.
  • Manage annual audits, Form 990 preparation, and relationships with external auditors.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures.
  • Partner with executive leadership on budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and long-term financial planning.
  • Oversee grant accounting, restricted funds, donor contributions, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Present financial results, forecasts, and recommendations to executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor accounting team members.
  • Drive process improvements and support organizational growth through sound financial stewardship.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Active CPA designation required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Proven leadership experience managing accounting teams and financial operations.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, audits, internal controls, and compliance.
  • Experience preparing and presenting financial information to executive leadership and boards.
  • Advanced proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience within a nonprofit, ministry, church, educational institution, or mission-driven organization.
  • Knowledge of nonprofit fund accounting, grants, and donor-restricted funds.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as Sage Intacct, NetSuite, Blackbaud, or similar platforms.
  • Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred.
