How you will create an impact

  • This position is responsible for leading a team of Claims Examiners on the Federal WC Claims team and for directing activities consistent with the mission statement of AIG Claims, Inc. by achieving stated goals through best practices and other acceptable means.
  • Provides leadership that encourages and supports a professional environment and promotes a business culture that leverages attainment of desired business results.
  • Ensures understanding and administration of claim policies, procedures, and practices in accordance with company and policy standards.
  • Implements procedures that will shape behaviors to achieve quality results on a consistent basis in meeting Best Claim Practices to benefit of customers and business partners.
  • Evaluates and measures operational compliance in concert with Claim Handling Guidelines in meeting team goals.
  • Ensures appropriate claim file reserving, claim payments, legal/allocated expenses and recoveries are effectively applied and consistent with company guidelines via review and management of Open and Closed file reviews as well as other review processes.
  • Ensures that high quality Claim Summary Reports are being effectively completed and managed by assigned team to promote customer service excellence.
  • Directly responsible for implementing a people strategy that supports training and skills improvement initiatives that achieve increased bench strength and improved career pathing for assigned team.
  • Directs and leads team in achieving business strategies and plans in support of agreed upon objectives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by office AVP and/or WC Sr. Leadership

What you will need to succeed

  • Proven claims adjusting experience and extensive leadership experience within a claim technical operation, in-depth understanding of Workers' Compensation claim handling and servicing requirements.
  • Specialist knowledge of Defense Base Act claims is preferred.
  • Leadership skills in direction setting, change management, customer focus and talent development
  • Analytical skills with strong business acumen and ability to work across organization in matrix reporting relationships
  • Strong (oral / written) communication and interpersonal skills
  • Technical expertise in one or more claim functions
  • Career development, mentoring and coaching skills
