Summary:
The Director of Nursing is a pivotal clinical leader responsible for the strategic leadership, operational integration, and financial stewardship of the Pediatrics units. The Director serves as a catalyst for excellence, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, and patient-centric care while fostering an environment where nursing professionals thrive.
The Director transcends daily oversight to lead planning, workforce development, and clinical innovation and empowers frontline caregivers to lead at the bedside, ensuring that nursing practice at Presbyterian remains evidence-based, standards-driven, and aligned with the system's mission to improve the health of the patients, members, and communities we serve.
Job Description:
Clinical & Strategic Leadership
  • Lead planning, workforce development, and clinical innovation at the bedside.
  • Maintain a professional governance model on the unit and support system-wide nursing councils.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor standards-based practice to ensure the delivery of safe, patient-centric care.
  • Interacts and coordinates activities with regulatory agencies, healthcare agents, and vendors.

HR & Operational Management
  • Perform all personnel management functions, including hiring, coaching, counseling, evaluating, and terminating.
  • Oversight of 50-80 staff members and development of three Manager-level direct reports.
  • Ensure all nursing practice remains evidence-based and aligned with PHS standards.

Financial & Productivity Stewardship
  • Responsible for the financial stewardship of designated nursing departments.
  • Monitor and improve budgeting and productivity metrics within the pediatric service line.

Additional Job Description:
Master's degree required in a field which supports the accountabilities of the position or Master's attainable within five years. State of New Mexico Nursing License required. Three to five years clinical experience required in the related area and leadership experience is required along with a BLS.
