Position Summary

The Quality Child Care Matters (QCCM) Facilitator is responsible for creating a network of family child care providers and ensuring that they have the support and resources needed to continue to provide high quality care and education to the children in their homes. The QCCM Facilitator will provide mentoring, coaching, training, technical assistance, and support to family child care providers. The QCCM Facilitator is responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

The work environment is generally performed in an office setting. The noise level is usually moderate. Working in an office requires maintaining physical condition and stamina appropriate to performing assigned duties and responsibilities, including stationary positioning for extended periods, interacting with co-workers, visitors, etc. It frequently requires lifting boxes of copy paper, office supplies, etc. Occasional use of upper extremities to press against equipment, furniture, etc., between 30-50 pounds with steady force to thrust forward, downward, or outward. It requires occasional use of the upper extremities to exert force to draw, haul, or tug objects between 30-50 pounds in a sustained motion. Raising objects between 30-50 pounds from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position is occasionally required. Will be required to operate a motor vehicle during the course of duties. Travel up to 40% of the time for in-person professional development, meetings and site observations.

Regularly required to use upper extremities, including reaching with hands and arms to move office supplies, files, documents, etc., from a lower to a higher position. Occasionally, it is required to bend the legs to rest on the knees, bend the body downward and forward by bending the legs and spine (at the waist), and move about on hands and knees or hands and feet. Frequently required to communicate information or instructions to co-workers, visitors, parents, peers, management, etc. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer, and calculator. Working evenings, weekends, and holidays as required to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position successfully. Normal to heavy travel is required to attend meetings, classes, and workshops in and out of the service area. Must be able to travel by air as necessary to attend training, conferences, and related activities.

Essential Functions

Job Function

The QCCM Facilitator systematically collects and analyzes data as the basis for decision-making for program improvement to accomplish the following:

1. Execute AVANCE’s QCCM program, including:
2. Providing direct implementation of QCCM curriculum to family child care providers, as needed Recruiting licensed and unlicensed family child care providers, working closely with AVANCE’s local partners and other agencies
3. Facilitating virtual and in-person trainings and offering professional development to ensure licensing standards are being followed, appropriate policies/procedures are in place, and best practices in early childhood are implemented to help providers improve the quality of their care
4. Visiting providers at home to conduct assessments and offer one-on-one program support, such as curriculum planning, model lessons, mentoring, coaching, guided practice and feedback, goal setting, and other support as needed
5. Provide small-group and individual coaching to enrolled family child care providers
6. Communicating and coordinating across family child care providers as well as any external resources
7. Linking providers to community resources and supports
8. Organizing and leading ongoing network meetings that work with family child care providers’ schedules
9. Keeping detailed records of all interactions with providers
10. Implementing network services based on national research and data from local providers
11. Ensure a culture of continuous improvement & user-centered focus:
12. Continuously improving the QCCM curriculum and network services based on data from needs of local providers, and national research Managing data collection, analysis, and evaluation
13. Implementing data-informed decision-making to support training strategies and to make program improvements
14. Problem-solving and collaborating with providers to design responsive strategies
15. Reporting on QCCM program activities and key performance indicators
16. Become a certified TECPDS trainer, and work to ensure that AVANCE becomes a certified training organization
17. Communicate with leadership on programmatic status, updates and any concerns regarding the implementation of the QCCM program
18. Participate in assigned meetings, events and training as required
19. Performs other duties as assigned

Education

• Required: Associate Degree in Education or related field
• Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field

Experience

• Required: At least three (3) years of experience training, mentoring and coaching teachers or adult learners
• Required: At least two (2) years of experience working in or with childcare centers
• Required: Experience with Texas Rising Star, Texas Child Care Licensing or other equivalent standards

Other

• Preferred: Bilingual in Spanish and English

License & Certification

• Required: Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
• Preferred: Texas Early Childhood Professional Development System Trainer

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1. Sustained concentration and ability to handle multiple tasks often simultaneously.
2. Knowledge and background of pre-school children.

4. Bilingual in English and Spanish (oral and written) may be required at some centers.
5. Demonstrated success in handling confidential information.

8. Ability to handle stressful and sensitive situations in a professional manner.
9. Ability to work independently and maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.

11. Ability to perform duties and adapt to flexible work schedules as established by management
12. Able to lift and/or carry 30 to 50 lbs.
13. Office equipment - 10 key calculator, fax, copier, audiovisual equipment. Intermediate math skills required.
14. Intermediate to advanced computer skills in the use of the Windows, Internet Search Engines, Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Agency Software and Programs, etc.
15. Must have dependable transportation, valid driver’s license, proof of current insurance coverage, and be insurable by AVANCE’s guidelines.
