JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Director of Nursing provides internal leadership and direction to the LPN and RN programs. This position supports curriculum and program development in nursing, facilitating internal program review processes and outcomes assessments. The director works collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and communities of interest to set the strategic direction for the nursing programs. This position provides direct supervision of assigned staff to include, but not limited to nursing faculty and support staff within the nursing program.
Schedules and plan the program advisory committee meetings and student clinical opportunities.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:

  • Administers and leads all aspects of the Nursing Program including coordination and staffing of all courses and clinicals.
  • Oversees compliance with ACEN (Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing) accreditation standards and State Board of Nursing regulations.
  • Oversees strategic program planning to maintain sufficient staffing, facilities, technology, and budgetary resources to support high-quality nursing education.
  • Makes data-informed decisions using outcomes assessment data, program review data, and input from industry advisors.
  • Designs, implements, and evaluates learning and assessment resources.
  • Facilitates review, evaluation, and modification of existing curriculum to maintain alignment with accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, and workforce needs.
  • Coordinates program activities to include orientation, graduation, and pinning ceremonies.
  • Guides and supports faculty and staff through setting expectations, mentoring, performance evaluation, workload planning, and professional development.
  • Actively recruits and retains high-performing faculty to ensure adequate staffing and alignment with program growth and accreditation requirements.
  • Maintains an open and supportive presence as a reliable faculty resource, ensuring instructors receive guidance, clear communication, and problem-solving assistance to enhance teaching effectiveness and program consistency.
  • Prepares the nursing program budget with faculty input and administers fiscal resources allocated to the nursing program.
  • Evaluates, designs and implements improved learner support systems.
  • Monitors student success metrics including retention, graduation, classroom and clinical performance, and NCLEX pass rates and collaborates with faculty and staff to address student concerns and enhance student learning outcomes.
  • Provides leadership for all accreditation and regulatory activities, including preparing required reports, maintaining program data, coordinating site visits, and ensuring continuous compliance with state board of nursing, regional accreditation, and national nursing accreditation agencies.
  • Participates in grant development, administration, and reporting to support program innovation and resource expansion.
  • Builds and maintains positive relationships with healthcare organizations and industry partners.
  • Secures and supports clinical placements and experiential learning opportunities.
  • Consistently and dependably attends work, activities, and functions as scheduled or assigned.
  • Schedules and plan the program advisory committee meetings and student clinical opportunities.

Monday - Friday, day hours; may include evenings and weekends as needed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Master's degree in Nursing or related field with at least 18 graduate hours in Nursing.
  • Three (3) years clinical experience AND three (3) years of nursing education experience (higher education preferred).
  • Unencumbered license to practice in Nebraska.
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or work experience considered.
  • Ability to travel between campuses for meetings or position responsibilities.
  • Must pass background check.
