Job description

Location: London, UK or New York (preferred), with Charlottesville, VA or select US East Coast locations (GA, FL, NC) also considered.

Have you built deep investment expertise and found yourself drawn to how others learn and develop those skills? Are you motivated by turning real-world investment practice into learning that genuinely prepares people to perform? Would you like the opportunity to shape skills-based investment education at global scale?

CFA Institute is hiring a Director, Learning Content to help shape how investment professionals learn, apply and demonstrate real-world skills. This is a Director-level individual contributor role within the Learning Content function, working across our global education portfolio and helping develop learning that reflects how investment work is actually done.

The role offers the opportunity to work across areas such as the CFA Program, certificates, private markets and sustainability-related content. Sustainability exposure is valuable, but this is not a sustainability-only role. The emphasis is on investment credibility, content judgement, stakeholder collaboration and the ability to translate complex professional practice into rigorous, learner-centric content at scale.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the design, development, review and maintenance of high-quality, learner-centric content across CFA Institute education products.

  • Translate complex, real-world investment practice into clear learning content, study tools and assessment-supporting materials that build practical skills.

  • Collaborate closely with learning design, assessment/exam teams, product management, marketing and subject matter experts to shape effective learning journeys.

  • Work closely with external authors, reviewers, practitioners and consultants, setting clear standards and providing constructive feedback.

  • Contribute to curriculum alignment with learning outcomes, practice analysis, advisory input and market-relevant professional standards.

  • Support content across different portfolio areas, including sustainability, private markets, CFA Program and other education offerings as priorities evolve.

  • Ensure content is accurate, rigorous, accessible for a global audience and delivered to agreed timelines.

What We're Looking For

  • Credible experience in investment management, financial services, finance education or a closely related field, with the ability to develop and apply deep subject matter expertise.

  • Experience developing, contributing to or reviewing professional, university-level, client-facing or internal learning/training/content materials in finance or related disciplines.

  • A clear and authentic motivation to work in learning content and education, with interest in how adults learn and how complex investment practice can be translated into effective learning experiences.

  • A track record of producing accurate, high-quality and market-relevant content, with comfort working through review cycles, feedback and iterative improvement.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trust and collaborate effectively with internal teams, external contributors and senior industry professionals.

  • Proven ability to operate independently in a global, cross-functional environment, balancing multiple priorities and delivering to agreed timelines.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence explaining complex concepts clearly to diverse audiences.

  • CFA charterholder strongly preferred. Candidates without the charter will also be considered where they bring equivalent industry credibility and learning content experience. Other relevant professional qualifications are also valued.

Nice to have

  • Exposure to sustainability, private markets, AI, data tools or other emerging areas relevant to investment education.

  • Experience with learning design, assessment, curriculum development or professional credentialing environments.

  • Familiarity with tools or data services used in financial services, such as Excel, R, Python, SQL, FactSet or Bloomberg.

Why Join Us

  • Shape the future of global investment education through a large-scale, skills-based transformation.

  • Work at unmatched scale and impact, reaching hundreds of thousands of learners worldwide.

  • Gain exposure across the full CFA Institute education portfolio, not limited to a single programme or topic area.

  • Join a high-performing, globally respected team with strong external practitioner engagement.

  • Collaborate with internal and external experts who care deeply about professional standards and learning quality.

  • Contribute to a mission-driven organisation making sustained investment in education, learning innovation and professional standards.

At CFA Institute, we are committed to transparency and equity in our hiring process. In compliance with wage transparency laws in many of the jurisdictions in which we recruit, we provide the following information regarding compensation for this position:

Expected salary range:

  • US - Metro Locations (NY): $155,000 - $195,000 per year
