Thank you for your interest in joining our team here at PERILLA korean american steakhouse. Please be sure to read through this job listing in its entirety in order to be considered for the position. We are currently seeking a Sous Chef to join our team. We encourage and train teammates to grow and develop skills in each position of the BOH team as we move toward a new direction of a teamwork driven performance in the service industry.

Our Mission:

We believe that in order to provide our guests with the very best experience of food and hospitality, it requires a dedicated team of individuals working together with the same goal and purpose. The goal being, to respectfully introduce and represent our cuisine and culture with passion and attention to detail. We hope to create and maintain a community of independent small businesses supporting each other throughout Chicago and partner with quality purveyors that allow us to share their products and services. While doing so, we hope to create a workplace for our teammates that offers opportunities and growth in a positive work environment.

About the company:

Our company, PERILLA, is named after a plant native to Korea and many east asian countries. It is known to be very adaptable and grows vigorously on any soil. The name is an homage to our parents who are first generation immigrants that traveled to foreign land and rooted themselves on new soil. Our food is centered around a communal dining experience. Inspired by Korean flavors and ingredients, we offer our approach on many traditional classics and modern Korean dishes paired alongside new and exciting takes created by Chef Andrew Lim to represent the second generation of Korean Americans and the food we love to enjoy and share.

About PERILLA korean american steakhouse:

A modern interpretation of the classic Chicago steakhouse and inspired by traditional Korean flavors, the new concept pays homage to the city’s iconic steakhouse roots while introducing a new iteration of the classic dining concept. Designed to be an energetic and explorative dining experience, the restaurant features custom grill tables along with a one of a kind chef tasting menu at the Chef Counter.

Restaurant Information:

•Located at 225 N Wabash Ave, Chicago, IL 60601

•First and only Korean American Steakhouse in Chicago, located in the new Lotte L7 Chicago Hotel

•Independently owned and operated business

•We have a positive, teamwork driven work environment with dedicated leaders who are present and working hands on with the team

•We are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner 7 days a week

•Accessible by CTA near the State & Lake Station

•Discounted monthly garage parking with 24 hour access available

Compensation Information:

•Paychecks are provided weekly on Thursdays

•We offer direct deposit through ADP

Position Information:

•You will be required to learn each of the roles in the BOH team

•You will be trained on our operating systems including OpenTable, Toast POS, TripleSeat, and XTRAchef

•You will be required to obtain all necessary certificates including a Manager Sanitation Certificate, Food Allergen Certificate, and an annual Sexual Harrasement Training Certificate

•You will be working directly with the chef team and assist in overseeing the entire BOH team

•10 days paid vacation annually

•Fully covered health insurance after 30 days of employment on the 1st of the following month

•You will be provided with daily staff meal and employee discounts for dining and take out

•Quarterly Bonuses dependent on controllable profit, sales growth to budget, sanitation scores, management of cost of goods, and ratings
