Within our Transportation Practice, LJB has spent more than five decades designing infrastructure that connects people, supports communities, and improves quality of life. We are currently seeking an experienced Roadway Design Engineer to support and grow our Transportation Practice in our Cleveland, Ohio office. We are open to fully remote candidates who are located in Ohio.
Annual Compensation: $90,000-125,000 based upon experience, certifications, and regional market standards.

ROADWAY DESIGN ENGINEER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Perform engineering design tasks for roadway projects from preliminary to final design.
  • Develop specifications, cost estimates, and prepare final bid packages.
  • Mentor and assist junior engineers in developing final design plans (including but not limited to implementation and knowledge of cross sections, traffic control, drainage, and signing and pavement markings plans.
  • Coordinate design activities and meetings between design staff, subcontractors, and client managers.

Roadway Design Engineer Additional Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost, and scheduling performance.
  • Identify schedule and cost variance and develop/implement recommendations for corrective action.
  • Actively participate and service in leadership positions in transportation related organizations such as ASHE, ASCE, DBIA, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

ROADWAY DESIGN ENGINEER ESSENTIAL CREDENTIALS:
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering required.
  • PE preferred. Successful candidates will have their PE or the ability to obtain PE within 1 year of hire.

Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of progressive engineering experience possessing a broad knowledge and experience in transportation and roadway design.
  • Experience working with DOT design projects required, experience with NCDOT or ODOT is a plus.
  • Micro Station, Geopak, and OpenRoads Designer (ORD) design software experience preferred.
