VENUE DIRECTOR/ GENERAL MANAGER

The Sunset Terrace is seeking an entrepreneurial, sales-driven event professional to help grow and operate one of San Antonio's most distinctive rooftop venues.

This is not a traditional 9-to-5 position. We are looking for someone who can generate business, convert inquiries into bookings, coordinate exceptional events, and become the trusted local leader of the venue.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Venue Director will work directly with ownership and take responsibility for the day-to-day growth and operation of The Sunset Terrace.

Your mission will be to build a consistent pipeline of profitable events while delivering a professional, organized, and elevated experience for every client.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Respond to i nquiries and conduct venue tours .
  • Prepare proposals, close bookings, and manage the event calendar .
  • Maintain client communication from the initial inquiry through post-event follow-up.
  • Coordinate vendors, setup, security , cleaning, rentals, and event logistics.
  • Supervise events when necessary and protect the venue and building.
  • Build relationships with planners, companies, hotels, nonprofits, luxury brands, and hospitality partners.
  • Create attractive event packages that are easy for clients to understand and purchase .
  • Generate additional revenue through planning, coordination , referrals, and vendor partnerships.
  • Maintain operating procedures, event checklists, and service standards.
  • Provide regular reports covering leads , tours, bookings , revenue, and upcoming events.
THIS IS ALSO A SALES ROLE

The right person must be comfortable actively pursuing business - not simply waiting for inquiries. We are looking for someone who consistently thinks about how to create relationships , generate leads, and put profitable events on the calendar .

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

COMPENSATION AND GROWTH OPPORTUNITY

Compensation will be designed to reward both the work performed and the revenue generated. The initial structure may include:

  • A monthly operating retainer
  • Payment for managing or supervising events
  • Commission on events personally generated or closed
  • Performance bonuses tied to revenue and profitability
  • Additional incentives for developing profitable packages, partnerships, or service revenue

This position does not include immediate ownership.

After a minimum of 18 months, ownership may consider offering a small, performance-based equity opportunity to an exceptional person who has demonstrated loyalty, leadership, strong results, and the ability to grow the business profitably .

Any ownership opportunity would be earned gradually, subject to a separate written agreement, and tied to continued performance and involvement in the business.

REPORTING STRUCTURE

The Venue Director will report directly to ownership and work closely with Catalina Lynd, Founder and Creative Director.

Catalina will continue overseeing the brand, creative vision, marketing strategy, important partnerships , and overall guest experience. The Venue Director will lead local sales, client follow-up, event coordination, and day-to-day execution.
