Job description

Funeral Director/Embalmer
The Funeral Director/Embalmer reports to the General Manager and is responsible for all duties associated with Funeral Service as outlined by the State of Georgia Funeral Board and providing exceptional customer service. The Funeral Director also works closely with the sales team to ensure our families are presented with all service and property options.

Responsibilities
• Perform all licensed duties with making funeral arrangements, embalming, and conducting services as prescribed by Georgia Law.
• Supervise Apprentices under your license and/or assist supervision under another Funeral Director listed as preceptor
• Manage Funeral Assistants, Administrative Assistants and Apprentices assigned to assist in arrangements.
• Perform all other job duties in the Funeral Home or Cemetery as needed for company needs.

• Adherence to all company policies and guidelines.
• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills as you work with families, clergy, coworkers, and others to plan, schedule and coordinate funerals, burials and cremations.
• Display utmost professionalism as you interact with our families, members of the community, and coworkers.
• Attention to detail to ensure the client/family wishes are met and exceeded.
• Complete and execute all necessary paperwork and adhering to company policies and core values
• Support of the financial health of the company (expenses, sales, etc.).

Requirements amp; Qualifications
• Current Georgia State Funeral Director License (or ability to reciprocate from another state)
• Current Georgia State Embalmer License (or ability to reciprocate from another state)
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Valid driver’s license and clear driving record
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
• Ability to lift 60+ pounds on your own
• Ability to lift and bend frequently
• Ability to sit for extended periods of time
• Hours: Varying Monday – Friday between 8:30am – 5:00pm with Saturday rotations and evenings as needed for the business

Work Environment
• Work may be performed both indoors and outdoors regardless of weather conditions; Personnel may have exposure to various chemicals and fluids; cemetery personnel may have exposure to chemicals and equipment.
• Business attire is required. Personal safety equipment or appropriate attire may be required for cemetery or crematory environment.
• Typically required to work a rotating weekend schedule.
