SoftPro is looking for a Director of Software Engineering that will lead our engineering and quality assurance efforts for our SaaS platform. The successful person in this role is a technical expert with a strong track record of delivery of enterprise software, especially in the financial services sector, in addition to being an emphatic mentor with strong leadership and change management skills. This position is in Raleigh, NC and is a hybrid position, requiring 2-3 days a week in office. This position reports to the Chief Technology Officer.

What will I do as the Director of Software Engineering at SoftPro?

  • Plan, guide and direct all development, quality assurance (QA) and application security activities on our SaaS platform.

  • Be a thought and process leader and mentor for all team members.

  • Advocate for. Implement and measure the outcomes of an AI assisted and/or Agentic AI SDLC.

  • Working closely with Product teams, ensure that both functional and non-functional requirements are correctly prioritized and delivered on time and budget.

  • Create opportunities for teams to reduce technical debt, increase code coverage and quality throughout the software lifecycle.

  • Hire, nurture and retain strong technical talent across all teams.

  • Ensure that all Software Development efforts follow organizational policies, procedures and industry best practices.

What do I need to be successful as the Director of Software Engineering at SoftPro?

  • Education

    • A Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Engineering is required; a master's degree would be preferred. Work experience may be substituted.

  • Experience

    • 5+ years' experience of managing and mentoring multiple development and QA teams, preferably across time zones and cultures, with at least 20 team members.

    • 10+ years' experience in developing software on the .NET platform including Microsoft Azure technologies

    • Demonstrated domain expertise including the ability to develop business partnerships and influence priorities by identifying solutions that are aligned with current business objectives.

    • Demonstrated ability to stay up to date with industry and technology changes and share this knowledge with coworkers.

    • Knowledge and demonstrated application of professional software engineering practices through the entire software development lifecycle.

    • Experience in the financial services industry is a big plus.

  • Track record of successful Delivery to customers

    • Strong track record of delivering non-functional requirements (performance, stability, application security) with the same zeal and care as functional requirements.

    • The ability to choose and implement the appropriate strategy and methodology to be used for building and delivering software of high quality to customers.

    • Ability to use automated tests, analysis, and informed feedback loops to ensure the quality and production readiness of work before release, the health of the development and QA processes and success of production outcomes.

  • Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile

    • Experience with modern agile Software Development approaches and focus on process excellence.

    • Demonstrated ability to incorporate metrics that lead to improved software security throughout the development life cycle.

    • Hands-on experience with software architecture, modern web applications, including those built on microservices patterns.

    • Hands-on experience with AI assisted or Agentic AI SDLC

    • Experience managing budgets and projects.

  • Leadership, Problem Solving and Communication

    • Ability to communicate across teams and with peers and customers, honestly and openly.

    • Experience in leading organizations through change and arriving at successful outcomes.
