The full-spectrum Capital One Global Enterprise Communications team is responsible for all aspects of the company's communications strategy and execution in order to propel business imperatives while promoting and protecting the reputation of Capital One. Our purview includes corporate and brand media relations, issues and reputation management, financial communications, and associate communications, as well as a full-service content and creative storytelling team that brings the story of Capital One to life on internal and external channels. We are communicators, writers, creative directors and multimedia experts, and we are all storytellers.

About the Role

Capital One is seeking a highly motivated and experienced principal associate to to support external communications for our Premium Products and Experiences line of business. By joining our team, you'll be expected to push the envelope in driving premium narrative around Premium Products & Travel and Loyalty, Marketing & Spend Experiences to external audiences. This role will be instrumental in managing media inquiries, developing reports, supporting proactive media relations, supporting executive thought leadership and vetting business engagements for reputation risk. Working across teams, you'll help deliver impactful campaigns and foster strong relationships with key stakeholders.

This position requires exceptional judgment, strong project management skills, an ability to build relationships in a highly matrixed environment, and a sustained focus on delivering results. Creative problem-solving, an ability to read the data and the room, and a passion for storytelling are all critical to success in this role. Empathy, teamwork and a sense of humor are essential.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assist in the development and execution of proactive communication, talent and tastemaker campaigns and team operations under the guidance of senior team members

• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to execute program elements,

• Liaise with media on in-bound media inquiries

• Create materials such as media messaging, pitches, media lists, briefing books, social posts for executives

• Provide project management support horizontally across team, including developing workback plans, keeping project trackers, distilling meetings into actionable next steps

• Assist with the development of measurement and media coverage reports

• Coordinate contract deliverables and logistics for talent and tastemaker partners

• Manage and optimize communications reporting and analytics

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or military experience

• At least 3 years of external communications experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Public relations or communications experience in financial services, technology, or consumer brands

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $108,900 - $124,300 for Principal Communications Assoc

New York, NY: $118,800 - $135,600 for Principal Communications Assoc

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
