Position Summary:
The Director of Expanded Learning provides strategic leadership for Tulsa Public Schools' expanded learning programs within the McLain feeder pattern, ensuring students have access to high-quality learning opportunities beyond the school day that support academic achievement, enrichment, and engagement. The Director oversees program operations, staffing, budgeting, compliance, performance monitoring, and quality assurance while also providing districtwide leadership for the Navigate360 Volunteer Management System and Champions before- and after-school care programs. In partnership with district leaders, school staff, community organizations, higher education institutions, and The Opportunity Project, the Director cultivates and sustains strategic partnerships that expand access to high-quality learning experiences for students and families. The Director leads long-range planning, resource development, and continuous improvement efforts to strengthen program impact, increase community engagement, and ensure expanded learning opportunities align with district priorities and student needs.
Key Functions:
• Provides strategic leadership for expanded learning, summer learning, enrichment, and out-of-school time programs within the McLain feeder pattern
• Directs program operations, quality, compliance, and performance monitoring across McLain feeder pattern school sites
• Oversees the Navigate360 Volunteer Management System and Champions before- and after-school care
• Develops and manages program budgets, funding allocations, and resource decisions
• Hires, supervises, and evaluates assigned staff; builds and sustains community and partner relationships
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
• Master's degree in Educational Administration, Human Development Sciences, Youth Development, or related field
Experience:
• Seven (7) years' experience in a school or youth development setting, with three to five (3-5) years' experience in a leadership/supervisory role
• Experience in planning and implementing expanded learning programs
• Experience working with a variety of agencies and community resources involved with students and families
• Experience working with a diverse population of students and families within an urban school or youth development setting
• Demonstrated success in executing budgetary and operational responsibilities
• Understanding of Oklahoma Department of Human Services Child Care Facilities Licensing
Licenses and Certifications:
• Valid Driver's License required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Knowledge of expanded learning, out-of-school time, and summer learning program design and best practices
• Knowledge of Oklahoma Department of Human Services Child Care Facilities Licensing and applicable state and federal compliance requirements
• Strong leadership, supervision, and staff development skills, including hiring, coaching, evaluating, and managing performance
• Ability to develop, monitor, and manage program budgets and allocate resources for operational effectiveness and sustainability
• Ability to build and sustain partnerships with schools, community organizations, higher education, foundations, employers, and governmental agencies
• Ability to use program and operational data to assess quality, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with diverse students, families, staff, and community stakeholders
• Ability to manage multiple programs, systems, and priorities across school sites within established district direction
