Job description

In this role, you'll lead the design of market rules and processes that bring MISO's Market Vision to life. You'll help ensure our wholesale electric markets remain reliable, efficient, and ready for the challenges of tomorrow's energy landscape.
You'll guide a talented team, collaborate across departments, and work closely with stakeholders and the Independent Market Monitor to develop innovative solutions that advance market efficiency and grid reliability.
A Few Things You'll Take On
  • Shape and enhance market rules, Tariff provisions, and business requirements for day-ahead and real-time energy markets, ancillary services, and Financial Transmission Rights (FTR).
  • Lead cross-departmental initiatives that respond to evolving grid technology and changing business models.
  • Partner with leaders to build and execute strategic plans, making sure your team is set up to hit key milestones.
  • Drive Market Enhancements from concept through stakeholder review, ensuring they're valuable, feasible, and timely.
  • Clearly communicate how these enhancements solve real market and reliability challenges - to stakeholders, leadership, and our Board of Directors.
  • Use your analytical skills to evaluate market and infrastructure policy issues, applying advanced engineering or economic techniques to support smart decision-making.

What Success Looks Like After One Year
You'll have led your team to deliver key market design initiatives on time, built strong and trusted relationships with internal teams and stakeholders, and earned a reputation as a collaborative, forward-thinking leader. You'll be seen as someone who not only understands the market but helps shape its future.
What You'll Bring
  • A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Business, Economics, or a related field.
  • At least seven years of experience, which could include: policy development, regulatory processes at the state or federal level, or similar.
  • At least one year prior supervisory experience, plus strong budgeting and forecasting skills.
  • The ability to write and present technical information clearly to diverse audiences - from regulators to executives.
  • A proven track record of leading teams or stakeholder groups through complex challenges.
  • Familiarity with NERC and FERC regulatory compliance requirements, as well as CIP and SSAE 16 compliance.

Bonus points for:
  • A master's degree or Ph.D.
  • Specific experience within any of the following: resource adequacy policies, wholesale and/or retail market design, electric and/or gas utility resource procurement, electric transmission and/or generation development, market operations or market monitoring preferably in the electric utility industry.
  • Experience in electricity markets design, implementation and operation; development of computational methods in power system analysis and operation, market clearing engines or electricity pricing.

Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience and knowledge.
