Duties:

Under supervision, to perform a variety of operations at the consumer's premises, involved in the handling of consumer complaints, including high bills, to read meters when assigned, install and remove meters . To train and instruct other employees and to perform other related work.

  1. Perform a variety of consumer related operations such as working turn-on and shut-off meter orders, disconnect orders in the collection process, change meter orders, install/remove meter orders not involving a service drop, and other similar work on single phase self-contained non-demand meters.

  2. Perform consumer-related operations such as working consumer tickets, checking meters, making connected load surveys, investigating consumer complaints, inspections on consumer premises and other related work.

  3. Read meters as assigned on a relief schedule and report or correct observed defective or irregular conditions.

  4. Perform public contact work in a pleasant, businesslike, courteous, and tactful manner; perform assigned duties in a way to best assure the continuance of good public relations.

  5. Perform a variety of work such as working on special projects, making bank deposits, delivering mail, act as a guide for out-of-district crews, building maintenance work, and other assigned duties.

  6. Operate two-way space radio facilities and check such equipment for proper operating condition, reporting any impaired operation to proper Company personnel.

  7. Maintain and properly care for assigned vehicle and equipment, maintain work areas in a clean orderly condition, continuously observe Company safety rules and practices, check condition of safety equipment, attend safety meetings, participate in artificial respiration practice as required and become familiar with safety manuals, rules and special pro­cedures prescribed by the Company.

  8. Direct the work and instruct other employees when assigned.

  9. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Graduation from high school or applicable equivalent either in job training or study, preferably in basic electricity.

  2. Indicated ability to use hand tools.

  3. Must have the basic characteristics or demonstrated ability to represent the Company in public contact work and to maintain a neat and clean appearance. When required - wear uniform.

  4. Must be able to understand and follow instructions and prescribed routines and to work effectively with co-workers.

  5. Must be qualified to drive and hold a valid State of Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles Operators License.

  6. Must have satisfactorily completed the Company's training program for the job of Consumer Order Worker.
