Job description

3rd Shift Shag Driver

Location: Tonganoxie, KS
Pay: $23/hr
Schedule: Sunday-Friday | 3 pm to 11 pm or Sunday-Thursday 10PM-6AM

A local warehouse is looking to add a Shag Driver to their team. This is an evaluation-to-hire opportunity with long-term growth potential for the right candidate.

Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate a yard tractor within company property
  • Move loaded and empty trailers between docks and designated yard locations
  • Perform trailer inspections and ensure equipment is free of damage or contamination
  • Open and close trailer doors and adjust tandems as needed
  • Complete daily yard checks to verify trailer locations and inventory
  • Maintain required paperwork and documentation accurately
  • Use a handheld radio, tablet, or computer for communication and reporting
  • Perform daily housekeeping and basic maintenance checks on assigned equipment
  • Report issues or discrepancies to the Traffic Coordinator
  • Follow all company safety procedures and yard speed limits

Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of experience operating a yard hostler, shag truck, or similar equipment
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to meet company insurance requirements
  • Basic computer and tablet skills
  • Strong attention to safety and detail

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods
  • Frequently climb in and out of equipment
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 60 pounds
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, and crawl as needed

Important: This position operates equipment only on company property. Driving on public roads is not permitted.
