Job description

Clear Behavioral Health is dedicated to supporting individuals facing mental health and substance use challenges through compassionate, holistic, and evidence-based care. We provide a full continuum of services, including detox, dual diagnosis treatment, residential and outpatient programs, and specialized mental health services, all delivered by a multidisciplinary team of experienced clinicians and support professionals. Summary of Position
The Director of Virtual Outpatient Services is a leadership role responsible for the performance, scalability and operational excellence of Clear Behavioral Health's virtual outpatient programs (IOP). This role leads and optimizes all virtual program tracks, with direct accountability for growth planning to scale the organization by 300-500% in the near term.
This role is a high-impact operator role, requiring strong execution, clear prioritization and ability to drive results in a fast-paced virtual care environment while maintaining alignment with organizational goals, mission, and regulatory standards.
This leader partners closely with operational, executive, and clinical leadership to drive program performance and growth, strengthen infrastructure, and ensure consistency across remote programming environments. The Director brings strong clinical insight, operational discipline, a growth-oriented mindset, and the ability to lead growing teams while maintaining a best-in-class virtual client experience.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Operational Leadership
  • Drive program growth and expansion, including the development of new tracks, service line enhancements, and increased market reach across virtual platforms
  • Oversight of all virtual outpatient tracks, ensuring consistency in programming, structure, and clinical delivery
  • Drive census growth, retention, and program utilization across virtual platforms
  • Lead strategic initiatives to enhance virtual care delivery, scalability, and operational efficiency
  • Perform pre-assessment meetings with prospective clients

Virtual Program Operations & Performance
  • Oversee daily virtual operations including scheduling, group programming, EMR chart compliance, staffing, and client engagement
  • Monitor key KPIs (census, attendance, completion rates, staff utilization, patient satisfaction, engagement) and drive performance improvement
  • Implement quality assurance processes specific to virtual service delivery, including session observation and audit review

Clinical & Compliance Oversight
  • Partner with the Clinical Director to address client care needs and escalations
  • Ensure full compliance with DHCS, Joint Commission, and telehealth regulations, maintaining audit readiness
  • Oversee clinical documentation practices, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with virtual care standards

Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop program management, therapists, counselors, and support staff
  • Establish strong accountability systems and performance expectations across teams
  • Ensure appropriate staffing coverage, including evening and on-call support

Client Experience & Access to Care
  • Champion a high-quality, patient-centered virtual experience that promotes engagement and continuity of care
  • Provide oversight and support for complex clinical cases, including crisis management
  • Enhance accessibility and remove barriers to care through optimized virtual workflows

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with admissions, marketing, business development, and utilization review teams to ensure seamless client experience and continuity of care
  • Participate in leadership, treatment team, and administrative meetings to align strategy and execution
  • Support outreach and referral development efforts to expand virtual program reach

Qualifications
  • Master's degree or higher in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field required.
  • Active licensure or registration preferred (LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, or associate level: ACSW, AMFT, APCC)
  • Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience, including Program Director experience in mental health and/or SUD settings, preferred
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing multi-track or multi-program treatment, virtual services strongly preferred
  • Ability to manage complexity and scale operations in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
  • Ability to be on call and accessible for staff and clients
  • Strong knowledge of DHCS, Joint Commission, and telehealth compliance requirements
  • Proven ability to lead distributed teams and drive performance in a virtual environment
  • Experience with EHR systems (Kipu preferred)
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Commitment to high-quality, holistic, and patient-centered care delivery
  • Strong leadership experience in a telehealth or virtual care environment preferred

Pay: $120,000 - $130,000 per year
Schedule: Monday through Friday(fully on-site).
