Job description

Citi is looking for a DevOps Engineer (Apps Support Intermediate Analyst - C11) to join its application support function, where you will build, maintain, and improve the technology infrastructure that keeps critical financial systems running reliably on a global scale. In this role, you will work at the intersection of engineering and operations, designing CI/CD pipelines, automating, and resolving complex application issues that directly impact Citi's business performance. This is an opportunity to grow your DevOps career within a high-impact technology team, supporting the Products and Functions Technology organization and working with cross-functional partners across development and business stakeholders.
Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical application support to business users by diagnosing issues, delivering short-term resolutions, and driving long-term fixes in collaboration with engineering and vendor partners.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for system outages, performance degradations, and application failures, then implement targeted remediation.
  • Participate in application releases end-to-end, from development and testing through to production deployment and post-release verification.
  • Analyze applications to identify security vulnerabilities and technical risks, recommending and implementing appropriate mitigations.
  • Act as a liaison between business users, internal technology teams, and external vendors to coordinate issue resolution and infrastructure improvements.
  • Develop and maintain technical support documentation to ensure continuity and clarity across the team.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Infrastructure as Code tools, reducing manual effort and improving system consistency.

Required Qualifications & Skills:
  • 2 or more years of experience in a DevOps Engineer or equivalent software engineering role, working on Linux-based infrastructure environments.
  • Working knowledge of at least one scripting or programming language such as Python, Java, Perl, or Ruby, applied to automation or tooling tasks.
  • Working knowledge of coding and supporting YAML-based CI/CD pipelines for enhancements and implementations.
  • Understanding deploying and managing WebLogic on Virtual machines and container platforms.
  • Ability to query and analyze data using SQL to support troubleshooting and operational reporting.
  • Familiarity with DevOps and Agile principles, and how they apply to delivery workflows and team collaboration.
  • Experience optimizing system reliability and identifying opportunities to improve workflow efficiency.
  • Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to translate technical detail for business stakeholders and management.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

Beneficial Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience with ITIL and Agile methodologies and processes.
  • Hands-on exposure to cloud platforms, with Microsoft Azure being particularly preferred.
  • Experience managing production infrastructure using tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Understanding of Infrastructure as Code practices for automating environment provisioning and configuration.

What We Offer:
At Citi, you will work within a collaborative, performance-driven technology team where your contributions have a direct impact on the reliability and effectiveness of systems used by businesses and clients around the world. We invest in our people's growth and support them with the tools, exposure, and environment to build a meaningful career in technology.
  • A hybrid working model with 3 days in the office and 2 days working remotely, giving you the flexibility to manage your time effectively.
  • Access to learning and development resources that support your technical growth and career progression in DevOps and cloud engineering.
  • The opportunity to work on complex, real-world infrastructure challenges within one of the world's largest financial institutions.
  • Exposure to cross-functional teams spanning development, infrastructure, and business operations, broadening both your technical and professional skills set.
  • Competitive wellbeing, financial, and employee support benefits tailored to your location.
