Job description

NorthHill Technology Resources has a need for a PostgreSQL Database Engineer to support a Federal Program in Springfield, VA.  This is a direct-hire role with our client, a fast-growing Federal Integrator.  An active TS/SCI Clearance is required, will sponsor for CI Polygraph within first year.
Manages the functionality and efficiency of a group of servers running on one or more operating systems.
  • Maintains database integrity and security, configures role-based access control (RBAC), and sets up administrative accounts.
  • Sets up administrator and service accounts.
  • Maintain documentation for configurations, standards, and procedures
  • Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products.
  • Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.
  • Develops and implements testing strategies and document results.
  • Provides advice on performance tuning and training to end-users.
  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.
  • Evaluates open-source or vendor tools and participates in database migration/special modernization projects.
  • Collaborate with developers on schema design, query optimization, and stored procedures
  • Plan and execute database upgrades, patching, and migrations
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements
  • Participate in on-call rotations for after-hours support
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Requirements:
  • Bachelors Degree in a Computer Science or related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience
  • 5 + years of related database analysis and/or administration experience.
  • PostgreSQL experience required. Oracle database administration a plus.
  • CompTIA Security+ or equivalent recommended.
  • Experience in PostgreSQL administration/tuning; including knowledge and implementation of database high-availability solutions
  • Experience in monitoring, creating, and managing PostgreSQL server agent alerts
  • Experience with Database backup, restore, migration, and Database snapshot technologies/strategies
  • Knowledge on how to build/maintain efficient database table structures for both transactional and warehouse data
  • Knowledge of Oracle 19c administration and performance tuning
  • Migration experience with Oracle, MySQL, and PostgresSQL
  • Candidates must hold a TS/SCI
