Position Summary

The Culinary Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily preparation and service of meals while providing leadership and support to the culinary team. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Culinary Services, this role ensures high standards of food quality, sanitation, safety, and exceptional customer service throughout all dining operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise the daily preparation and service of meals.
  • Lead, coach, train, and schedule culinary team members.
  • Foster positive relationships with residents, team members, and leadership.
  • Step into any culinary role as needed to support daily operations.
  • Ensure compliance with Department of Health, Department of Social Services, OSHA, and other applicable regulations.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe kitchen, storage, café, and dining areas.
  • Oversee proper cleaning and storage of kitchen equipment, smallwares, and dining areas.
  • Monitor food quality, presentation, and safe serving temperatures.
  • Maintain temperature logs for food, refrigerators, and freezers.
  • Assist with receiving, inspecting, and stocking food, supplies, chemicals, and paper goods.
  • Supervise the proper handling, storage, and disposal of food.
  • Maintain required documentation and reports.
  • Complete resident dietary assessment documentation as applicable.
  • Support LifeSpire's mission, values, and One LifeSpire culture.
  • Follow all safety procedures, HIPAA requirements, resident rights, and company policies.
Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Minimum of 2 years of food service experience preferred.
  • At least 1 year of leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience in a restaurant, hotel, healthcare, retirement community, or contract food service environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of food sanitation, food service, and quantity food preparation.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and coach a diverse team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, email, scheduling software, and HRIS systems is preferred.
  • ServSafe Certification required or the ability to obtain certification.
