Job description

Job Title: Process Engineer
Department: Engineering
Reports To: Department Supervisor
FLSA Status: Salary
Summary: The purpose of this position is to serve as a technical expert for Process Engineering. This position will assist in planning, directing, and coordinating manufacturing process improvement initiatives and support operations in all areas of the manufacturing process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate and solve production problems
  • Assist in researching and developing new processes and procedures
  • Document and update work instructions, standard operating procedures, and time observations of production processes
  • Identify and remove/improve process non-value added elements
  • Develop CAD layouts to optimize process and materials flow
  • Work with supervisors to solve quality issues
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement Events (Kaizen Events, 5S events, etc.)
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher education in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field
  • Marine production experience preferred
  • Lean Six Sigma experience preferred

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Other Qualifications: CAD experience preferred; proficient in MS office products
