Responsibilities

The Clinical Nurse Specialist manager provides leadership based on the vision, mission, philosophy, and core values of Mayo Clinic and the Department of Nursing. The Clinical Nurse Specialist manager plans, directs, coordinates, and evaluates the operational, fiscal, and personnel activities within defined areas of practice and allocates direct report resources to ensure the provision of high quality patient care. The role includes ongoing collaboration and communication utilizing participative decision making when appropriate. The Clinical Nurse Specialist manager is responsible for promoting a collaborative approach to improve the quality of patient care and value to patients. The manager applies current nursing and leadership theories to coordinate direct report activities. The Clinical Nurse Specialist manager acts as a resource and facilitates collaboration between nursing personnel and other healthcare disciplines throughout the organization and within the healthcare community. The Clinical Nurse Specialist manager contributes to the strategic planning process and attainment of goals of the organization. The Clinical Nurse Specialist manager is responsible for the orientation, supervision, coordination, and triage of assignments for staff that report to them. The Clinical Nurse Specialist manager coaches and mentors the staff that report to them. The Clinical Nurse Specialist manager serves as a leader participating in and providing direction for departmental and institutional goals and evidence based practice initiatives. The Clinical Nurse Specialist manager develops and maintains effective relationships with a variety of individuals, both internally and externally. This role is eligible for TN sponsorship. Successful sponsorship will require state licensure and completion of the VisaScreen or equivalent certification.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree with a major in nursing with a Clinical Nurse Specialist focus. Doctoral Degree – DNP or PhD in Nursing preferred.
  • Five years of successful work experience in nursing with three years as a Clinical Nurse Specialist.
  • Previous experience in supervisory or managerial position preferred.

License and Certifications:

  • Current RN license by applicable state requirements.
  • Current APRN license by applicable state requirements. Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs:
  • American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Additional state licensure(s) and/or specialty certification/training as required by the work area.

Exemption Status Exempt Compensation Detail $121,846.40 - $182,686.40 / year Benefits Eligible Yes Schedule Full Time Hours/Pay Period 80 Schedule Details Monday-Friday; Daytime business hours (8:00am-5pm), with 24/7 leadership availability as needed for operational oversight. Weekend Schedule Depending on business needs.
