Job description

Job Description
The Clinical Anatomy Fellow reports to and takes direction from the Chair of the Department of Clinical Anatomy.
The Clinical Anatomy Fellow will work collaboratively under mentorship of the Chair and faculty of the Department of Clinical Anatomy (DCA) and with Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science (MCCOMS) faculty/instructors across the enterprise, including all Mayo Clinic sites as required. The selected individual will have direct involvement in:
  • Clinical anatomy instruction and assessment of learners across MCCOMS
  • Clinical anatomy related Continuous Professional Development courses
  • Performance of cadaveric dissection as required by education, research and practice shields
  • Translational research on DCA prioritized projects for enhancing patient care
  • Skill enhancement in use of AI, and Immersive Tools through the Experiential Learning Platform
  • Manuscript preparation, writing, statistical analyses, submission and revision suitable for publication in clinically based, peer reviewed anatomy and medical education publications
  • Any other activities as required by DCA in alignment with annual strategic objectives

The Clinical Anatomy Fellowship program focuses on training for the following competencies:
  • Effective instructional and assessment skills in clinical anatomy
  • Effective application of dissection to improve and advance clinically relevant anatomical knowledge
  • Ability to engage in translational research for enhancing patient care
  • Competency in use of AI, and immersive tools
  • Skills in manuscript writing, statistical analyses, manuscript submission and revision suitable for publication in clinically based anatomy and medical education
  • Leadership skills and Multi-specialty Interactional Expertise

Mentorship in course development, team-based instruction, curriculum integration, and student evaluation/assessment will be provided. Focus on patient-centered pedagogy, educational outcomes evaluation is a core requirement. A minimum of 2 manuscripts submitted for peer reviewed publications is required for successful completion of the fellowship.
A Research Fellow at Mayo Clinic is a temporary position intended to provide training and education in research. Individuals will train in the research program of a Mayo Clinic principal investigator. Qualified individuals will demonstrate the potential for research as evidenced by their training and peer-reviewed publications and should become competitive for national research grants. Proof of English proficiency is required for J-1 Short-Term Scholars, Research Scholars, Professors, Specialists, and Student Interns sponsored by Mayo Clinic.
Qualifications
Must have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in a field directly relevant to the field of clinical anatomy. Proof of doctoral or medical degree (copy of diploma or final transcript with English translation, if applicable) or a letter from your university's Registrar office indicating you have fulfilled all doctoral program requirements and are eligible to graduate. Evidence of clinical anatomy teaching experience.
Evidence of experience in cadaveric dissection. Evidence of participation in scholarly and clinical anatomy research-based projects. At least one publication in a peer-reviewed journal is required.
