Director, Business Development - HealthcareJob Description:

ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Business Development Director - Healthcare is responsible for leading strategic growth initiatives that expand HITT's healthcare portfolio by cultivating executive-level relationships with healthcare owners, health systems, hospitals, developers, architects, engineers, and industry partners. This role drives market expansion through consultative client development, strategic account planning, and pursuit leadership while serving as the healthcare market expert for the business unit.

The ideal candidate brings an established network within the healthcare industry, a strong understanding of healthcare capital projects, and a proven ability to identify opportunities, develop long-term client partnerships, and position HITT as the contractor of choice for complex healthcare facilities. In addition to generating new business, this leader will mentor seller-doers and collaborate closely with Operations, Preconstruction, Marketing, and Executive Leadership to execute growth strategies.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive healthcare business development strategy aligned with regional and corporate growth objectives.

  • Cultivate executive-level relationships with healthcare systems, hospitals, developers, architects, engineers, consultants, and key industry partners.

  • Develop strategic account plans that drive repeat business and long-term client partnerships.

  • Lead opportunity qualification, pursuit strategy, competitive positioning, and client engagement from initial relationship development through project award.

  • Partner with Operations, Preconstruction, and Marketing teams to develop winning pursuit strategies and compelling client presentations.

  • Represent HITT at healthcare industry organizations, conferences, networking events, and community functions to strengthen market presence.

  • Monitor healthcare market trends, capital spending initiatives, regulatory developments, and emerging delivery models to identify new opportunities.

  • Maintain accurate pipeline forecasting, opportunity tracking, and strategic account reporting within the CRM.

  • Establish and manage a seller-doer process, provide training and coaching to Business Development team managers and members on relationship management, strategic account planning, and client engagement best practices.

  • Collaborate with HITT's national Business Development team to support national healthcare clients and cross-market opportunities.

  • Partner with leadership to establish annual business development goals and measure performance against key growth metrics.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, Business, or a related field.

  • 10+ years of business development, client development, or strategic sales experience within commercial construction, healthcare construction, architecture, engineering, healthcare consulting, or a related industry.

  • Established network of healthcare owners, health systems, developers, architects, engineers, and industry partners.

  • Demonstrated success developing strategic client relationships that result in negotiated work and repeat business.

  • Experience leading complex pursuit strategies, RFQs, RFPs, client interviews, and negotiated opportunities.

  • Strong understanding of healthcare facility planning, capital projects, and occupied construction environments.

  • Exceptional communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

  • Strong strategic planning, organizational, and leadership capabilities with the ability to influence stakeholders across multiple functions.

  • Willingness to travel up to 50% as required.

  • Professional industry references required prior to interview.

In accordance with Virginia Senate Bill 215 (SB 215), the base salary range for this position is:


$135,000.00 - $200,000.00

Compensation in other cities and states may vary. HITT Contracting offers a competitive total benefits and compensation package including performance-based bonuses, premium health care coverage including vision and dental, employer-matched 401(k), wellness reimbursement program, paid holidays and time-off, and other voluntary benefits and leave types. The determination of salary is based on the candidate's individual professional experience, qualifications, education, skills, and training.
