Responsibilities

Summary:

The Human Resources Specialist provides Human Resources administrative support to which includes onboarding, employment records, separations, regulatory reporting requirements and other areas as needed. This confidential position will support employees assigned to the BI Boulder division.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Human Resources Specialist maintains records of personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, status changes, termination and other related personnel and payroll issues.
  • Performs employee onboarding to include data entry into the HR Information System and new employee orientation. Ensures data entered is complete and accurate and employees have a thorough understanding of Company policies and procedures, to include the information included in the employee handbook.
  • The Human Resources Specialist assists employees with guidance on locating benefit information and employee resources.
  • Process performance reviews, wage/salary transactions and disciplinary actions in the Company's HR Information System in a timely manner and within approval authorization.
  • The Human Resources Specialist resolves employee personnel inquires and submits necessary inputs, changes, additions and deletions into the HR Information System. Report unusual or unresolved problems to HR Manager for further action.
  • Compiles information to file workers' compensation claims for employees and for the insurance carrier. Provides guidance to managers on claims management.
  • The Human Resources Specialist escalates benefit, leave, payroll or workers' compensation issues to appropriate resources.
  • Provides guidance to employees on Company HR policies and procedures.
  • The Human Resources Specialist engages employees and resolves issues expediently, with professionalism and tact. Escalates concerns as appropriate to HR Manager for further action.
  • Ensures compliance with company polies regarding employee files, data entry and SOX compliance.
  • The Human Resources Specialist ensures compliance with federal, state and local laws.
  • May assist in the administration and/or tracking of employee development training.
  • The Human Resources Specialist may assist with leaves of action in the Company's time keeping system and ensures compliance with FMLA, ADA and applicable federal, state and local laws.
  • Responsible for special projects as directed by HR Management.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • PHR or SHRM CP certification preferred.
  • At least three (3) years of related work experience in Human Resources.
  • Good working knowledge and familiarity with HR concepts, practices, procedures and basic employment laws required.
  • Multistate employment law experience is preferred.
  • Experience with an HR Information System preferred.
  • Must exhibit a high degree of professionalism to gain the respect of all employees.
  • Excellent organization, communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills required.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality at all times due to the handling of sensitive and confidential information.
  • Must have a proven history of ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
