About the Department

The University of Cincinnati Department of Athletics competes at the highest level of intercollegiate athletics with the vision to reach Next Level Success for all 18 varsity teams and more than 450 student-athletes. The Bearcats have a proud athletics history, winning eight national championships and 118 conference titles. The Cincinnati men's basketball team is among the 15 winningest programs all-time, while the football team became the first non-Power Five program to compete in the College Football Playoff in 2021. Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati (UC), Department of Athletics seeks applications for an Assistant Director of Marketing and Fan Experience (Program Coordinator). This is a full-time position, with a comprehensive benefits package. 

The successful candidate will be expected to deliver a worldclass experience for our fans and manage a diverse range of marketing duties with a focus on generating revenue and increasing attendance at athletic events while following University of Cincinnati and departmental policies, NCAA Division I, and Conference bylaws and regulations. 

Essential Functions
  • Manage and implement all marketing and promotional plans for assigned sports (with a strong focus on assigned sports of baseball and volleyball).  Includes a strong focus on ideation and execution of digital marketing campaigns.
  • Support fan experience elements for football, men’s basketball, and other sports as needed, including but not limited to tailgating, open houses, spring games, pep rallies, etc.
  • Create strategies, build relationships, and implement fan experiences to positively differentiate live home events from watching on television, in turn enhancing fan engagement and increasing attendance at assigned sports, specifically through student, youth, family and community outreach efforts.
  • Develop and implement creative, innovative, and impactful ideas for fueling the intensity of interest in Bearcats athletics.
  • Assist in management of the student capstone and internship programs (Bearcats Marketing Association).
  • Assist in management of student applications focused on driving student attendance and rewards. 
  • Participate in revenue generating initiatives, including but not limited to student season ticket sales.
  • Support the day-to-day operations of the marketing department.
Required Education
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Five (5) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
Required Experience
  • One (1) year of program coordination experience.
Additional Qualifications Considered
  • This position requires some evening and weekend hours.

Physical Agility Assessment: An email will be sent to all qualifying applicants, stating the date and time of the Physical Agility Assessment and will include a "Medical Release Certification" and a waiver. Physical Agility Preparatory Sessions will be offered to demonstrate proper techniques and review the assessment process. Physical fitness requirements (see End Requirements) can be found at here. The location of the Physical Agility Assessment will be at the UC Department of Public Safety Police Division located at 51 West Corry Boulevard, Edwards Three, Cincinnati, Ohio 45219. Please be sure to dress appropriately for the assessment tests and bring identification and the medical certification or waiver.

Medical Release Certification: This doctor's certification to perform the Physical Agility Assessment must be completed and signed by the applicant and a personal physician PRIOR to the date of the Physical Assessment; OR a waiver can be signed. One of these forms must be brought to the Physical Agility Assessment and will be collected by assessment staff. Failure to provide one of these documents will mean exclusion from the assessment process and ineligibility for this job.
