Director, Manufacturing Operations – North America

Movement Search and Delivery is partnering with a leading automotive manufacturing company in the Bowling Green, Ohio area to identify a Director of Manufacturing Operations – North America. This confidential search is an outstanding opportunity for an accomplished manufacturing executive to lead operations across a large North American manufacturing network while positioning themselves for future executive advancement.


About the Role

Reporting to executive leadership, you will oversee manufacturing operations across eight facilities in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, leading a team of Plant Managers and senior manufacturing leaders supporting more than 2,000 employees.

This role requires a hands-on leader who can simplify complex operations, build strong leadership teams, drive accountability, and create a culture focused on operational excellence, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction. For the right individual, this position offers a realistic path to broader executive leadership within the organization.


What You Will Do

  • Provide strategic leadership for eight manufacturing facilities across North America.
  • Lead and develop Plant Managers while driving consistency across all locations.
  • Improve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost performance throughout the manufacturing network.
  • Champion Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Analyze operational metrics and implement strategies that improve manufacturing performance.
  • Partner with Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, and Commercial teams to resolve production challenges and support new product launches.
  • Develop standardized operating practices and share best practices across all facilities.
  • Manage operating budgets, capital planning, and long-term manufacturing strategy.
  • Build a high-performance culture centered on accountability, employee development, and operational discipline.
  • Travel throughout North America to support plant operations and executive initiatives.


What You Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or a related field (MBA preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience with significant multi-site responsibility.
  • Executive-level leadership experience within automotive manufacturing or another high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Proven success leading multiple manufacturing facilities across North America.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience supporting demanding OEM customers and delivering world-class operational performance.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to influence teams across multiple countries.
  • Strong financial and operational business acumen.
  • Willingness to travel extensively throughout the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
