Description & Requirements
As Director, Strategy & Revenue Planning,you are responsible for defining and driving the strategic planning and revenue planning standards across HARMAN Automotive's Global Customer Group.
You lead the Customer Excellence function responsible for connecting Automotive Strategy, SBU strategies, Growth Strategy, Customer Portfolio Strategy, CAM strategies, 5-year planning, 10-year scenarios, and annual booking target development into one integrated planning system.
This role ensures that customer growth priorities, pursuit decisions, revenue plans, and long-term strategic choices are aligned, traceable, and measurable across Customer Groups, SBUs, Finance, Strategy, and supporting functions.
You will work closely with Customer Group Leads, CAM Leads, SBU leadership, Market Intelligence, Finance, Strategy, Sales, and Customer Excellence teams to strengthen strategic alignment, improve revenue planning discipline, and enable the organization to make better growth decisions based on clear priorities, reliable data, and consistent standards.
Business scope includes support for global Customer Groups a multi-year revenue planning horizon across OEM customers, regions, SBUs, and strategic growth spaces.
Your Team
You are part of the Customer Excellence organization and operate as the senior authority for strategy and revenue planning standards across the Global Customer Group.
You lead the Strategy & Revenue Planning Office, which owns the processes, frameworks, governance, and business rhythm for Growth Strategy, Customer Portfolio Strategy, CAM Strategies, 5-year planning, long-term revenue scenarios, and annual booking target development.
This role has 3 to 4 direct reports, who may be distributed globally and leads through influence across regional Customer Groups, CAM teams, SBUs, Finance, Strategy, Market Intelligence, and other Customer Excellence functions.
This role supports Customer Groups in the Americas, Europe, China and Korea, India, and Japan.
What You Will Do
Lead Strategy & Revenue Planning
Define and maintain the standards, frameworks, and operating rhythm for Growth Strategy, Customer Portfolio Strategy, CAM strategies, 5-year planning, 10-year scenarios, strategic growth space planning, and customer/SBU alignment.
Ensure the strategy and revenue planning system is clear, repeatable, data-driven, and consistently adopted across Customer Groups.
Own the 5-Year Planning Process
Lead the GCG 5-year planning process, aligning Customer Group, CAM, SBU, Finance, and divisional inputs into one integrated revenue plan.
Connect the 5-year plan to strategy, customer priorities, pursuit pipeline, SBU plans, and long-term Automotive growth ambitions.
Identify key assumptions, risks, gaps, and plan movements, and support leadership in defining required corrective actions.
Lead Growth Strategy and Customer Portfolio Planning
Translate market trends, customer needs, SBU strategies, customer portfolio analysis, competitive dynamics, and long-term business ambitions into a clear and prioritized Growth Strategy.
Analyze market potential, technology shifts, customer opportunities, SBU growth ambitions, and strategic growth ideas to determine where GCG should focus.
Challenge assumptions, pressure-test growth ideas, identify required enablers, and finalize the Growth Strategy into clear priorities, actions, scenarios, and measurable outcomes.
Track performance against the Growth Strategy and identify gaps, risks, and corrective actions.
Strengthen CAM Strategy Discipline
Define the standards, templates, rhythm, and governance for Customer Portfolio Strategy and CAM strategy development.
Ensure CAM strategies connect customer priorities, market trends, SBU growth opportunities, pursuit pipeline, revenue plans, risks, and required actions.
Coach Customer Groups and CAM teams in developing clear, actionable, and measurable customer strategies.
Provide Strategic Business Insights
Translate revenue planning, customer strategy, pursuit pipeline, market data, and growth performance into executive-level insights and recommendations.
Identify gaps, risks, white spots, customer shifts, technology transitions, and growth opportunities across the portfolio.
Drive Cross-Functional Alignment and Governance
Partner with Customer Excellence, SBUs, Finance, Strategy, Market Intelligence, and Customer Groups to align growth ambitions, customer priorities, technology roadmaps, business cases, and execution requirements.
Support leadership reviews, Growth Pillar discussions, strategic planning sessions, customer portfolio reviews, and annual planning processes.
Ensure lessons learned, market feedback, and performance results are translated back into stronger strategy and planning standards.
What You Need
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, Strategy, or related field.

  • 10+ years of experience in Sales, Sales Operations, Strategy, Business Planning, Revenue Planning, Customer Strategy, or customer-facing leadership roles in automotive or complex technology environments.

  • Strong understanding of automotive OEM customers, sales cycles, pursuit pipelines, revenue planning, customer strategy, and customer portfolio management.

  • Experience developing growth strategies, customer portfolio strategies, market opportunity assessments, or long-term business plans.

  • Strong ability to analyze market potential, customer opportunities, SBU strategy inputs, technology trends, revenue scenarios, and business performance.

  • Proven ability to translate complex inputs into clear strategies, priorities, plans, and executive-level recommendations.

  • Ability to challenge assumptions, pressure-test growth ideas, and drive strategic alignment across senior stakeholders.

  • Ability to influence leaders and drive alignment in a complex global matrix organization.

  • Experience leading, developing, and coaching direct reports across regions or functions.

  • Excellent communication, facilitation, problem-solving, and executive presentation skills.

What is Nice to Have
  • Experience leading 5-year planning, growth strategy, customer portfolio strategy, strategic revenue planning, or long-term business planning.

  • Experience working directly with OEM customers, Customer Account Management teams, or automotive SBU leadership.

Pay Transparency
$ 161,250 - $ 236,500
Dependent on the position offered, other forms of compensation are also available, such as bonuses or commission.
Pay is based on a wide range of factors, including, without limitation, skill set, experience, training, location, and business need.
