Job Description The Amplify Tutoring team is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Tutoring Instructional Designer to support the development of onboarding training materials. In this role, you will create engaging asynchronous onboarding experiences for Amplify Tutors by applying learning science and instructional design practices that support strong learner outcomes and diverse learner needs. A strong background in literacy instruction and the Science of Reading will be essential in developing training content aligned with Amplify's research-driven instructional approach.

Due to the rapid timeline of this project, the successful candidate must be a highly autonomous, self-starter capable of delivering production-ready content with minimal rounds of revision. The Tutoring Instructional Designer will review and update existing materials, support the creation of new resources and course content, and assist with LMS setup and administration. You will partner with subject-matter experts and analyze stakeholder feedback and performance data to ensure all learning materials meet the evolving needs of Amplify Tutoring.

This position reports to the Associate Director, Tutoring Talent, and collaborates closely with the Talent team, tutor coaches, and cross-functional partners across Amplify to ensure that training materials align with Amplify Tutoring's goals and priorities. While this position is virtual and open to candidates nationwide, work hours must fall within Eastern or Central Time, between 8:00 a.m.โ€“6:00 p.m. EST.

This is a temporary position, currently scheduled for 8โ€“10 weeks. The Weekly Schedule will range from 20 to 25 hours per week. Essential Responsibilities Develop high-quality onboarding modules for literacy and math tutors using authoring tools like Easygenerator or Rise.

Apply evidence-based instructional design principles to ensure training is effective and supports long-term retention. Script, film, and edit literacy video content using tools such as Descript, Camtasia, Vidyard, or Loom. Ensure all video assets include closed captioning and transcripts to meet accessibility standards.

Translate Science of Reading research and literacy curricula into practical training content. Create supporting materials such as Google Slides, knowledge checks, job aids, and guides. Review and update existing training materials to maintain accuracy and alignment with program protocols.

Use stakeholder data and performance metrics to identify gaps and implement data-driven improvements. Iterate and refine content rapidly to meet project timelines and evolving program needs. Partner with literacy experts to translate key concepts into engaging instructional content.

Collaborate with the Talent team to ensure training initiatives align with organizational goals. Ensure a consistent voice, instructional approach, and visual identity across learning materials. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Curriculum and Instruction, Instructional Design, or related field.

3+ years of instructional design experience focused on asynchronous adult learning within educational publishing, edtech, or related industries. Proven experience in K-8 literacy instruction and a deep, working knowledge of the Science of Reading (phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension). Handsโ€on experience with authoring and video editing tools.

Proficiency in Google Suite and experience using AI productivity tools such as Gemini or similar platforms. Key Competencies Agile mindset with a focus on execution and continuous improvement. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong attention to detail. Ability to bring structure and clarity to complex ideas.

Preferred Qualifications Experience using mCLASS products. Experience using Slack for remote communication across colleagues and teams. Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.

Experience excelling in a fastโ€paced, entrepreneurial service and support culture. Compensation The hourly rate range for this role is $22โ€“$25. Weekly schedule will range from 20โ€“25 hours, depending on business needs.
