Job description

Join Bee, an Amazon company building the future of personal AI ambient computing. As our first dedicated Electrical Engineer, you'll have the unique opportunity to shape hardware development from the ground up in a fast-moving, startup-like environment within Amazon.
We're a small, agile team (acquired by Amazon in September 2023) on a mission to create innovative AI-powered ambient devices. You'll work directly with the Head of Hardware and collaborate closely with cross-functional leaders to bring cutting-edge products to life.
Key job responsibilities
Design and develop electrical systems and circuit boards for next-generation AI ambient computing devices from concept through production
Own the complete electrical engineering lifecycle including schematic capture, component selection, PCB layout oversight, and design validation
Collaborate directly with the Head of Hardware to define hardware architecture and technical roadmaps for multiple product lines
Work cross-functionally with mechanical engineering, firmware, software, and industrial design teams to integrate electrical systems into complete product solutions
Conduct design reviews, failure analysis, and troubleshooting to ensure product reliability and performance
Develop and execute test plans including bring-up, validation, and compliance testing (FCC, CE, safety certifications)
Source and evaluate components, manage BOMs, and work with contract manufacturers to ensure design for manufacturability (DFM)
Rapidly prototype and iterate on designs in a fast-paced startup environment where speed and innovation are critical
Drive technical decisions on power management, connectivity (WiFi, Bluetooth, etc.), audio systems, sensors, and other subsystems relevant to AI ambient devices
Establish electrical engineering best practices, documentation standards, and development processes as the founding EE on the team
Stay current with emerging technologies and components to continuously improve product capabilities and performance
A day in the life
As the founding Electrical Engineer at Bee, your days will be dynamic and hands-on

You might start your morning reviewing PCB layouts with contract manufacturers, then jump into a design review with the Head of Hardware to discuss power architecture for an upcoming product.
Afternoons could involve debugging a prototype at your bench, collaborating with firmware engineers to troubleshoot sensor integration issues, or evaluating new components that could enhance our AI ambient devices. You'll have direct access to leadership and the autonomy to make critical technical decisions quickly.
You'll work closely with a small, tight-knit team including mechanical engineers and industrial designers to ensure electrical systems integrate seamlessly into elegant product designs.
About the team
Bee is building the future of personal AI-ambient computing that understands and adapts to your life. Acquired by Amazon in September 2023, we maintain our startup DNA while leveraging Amazon's world-class resources and reach.
We're a small, passionate team of builders who move fast and think big

Our culture is collaborative and hands-on-everyone from leadership to individual contributors rolls up their sleeves to solve hard problems together. You'll work directly with the Head of Hardware, and have close collaboration with mechanical engineers, firmware developers, and product designers who are all equally invested in creating exceptional products.
What makes Bee special is our focus on creating AI experiences that feel natural and intuitive in everyday life. This requires deep technical innovation across hardware, AI, and user experience.
We value speed, creativity, and ownership

Team members have significant autonomy to drive their areas forward, and we celebrate both bold ideas and rapid iteration. If you're energized by the opportunity to build something from the ground up, work on cutting-edge technology, and see your contributions ship to customers quickly, you'll feel right at home on the Bee team.
