Job Description
Position Summary
The In-Room Dining Captain oversees the daily operations of the in-room dining service, ensuring exceptional guest experiences through efficient order management, quality control, and team leadership. This position reports to the In Room Dining Manager.

Essential Job Functions/Key Job Responsibilities
• Supervise and coordinate the daily operations of the in-room dining service
• Ensure all orders are prepared, delivered, and presented according to hotel standards
• Train, mentor, and support in-room dining servers to maintain exceptional service quality
• Monitor guest orders and special requests to ensure accuracy and satisfaction
• Assist with taking orders, delivering food, and setting up in-room dining experiences as needed
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and proper stocking of in-room dining areas
• Handle guest concerns and resolve service issues promptly and professionally
• Collaborate with the kitchen and other departments to ensure seamless service
• Conduct regular quality checks on food presentation, temperature, and overall guest experience
• Oversee the collection and retrieval of trays and dining equipment from guest rooms and hallways
• Maintain records of in-room dining transactions, inventory, and team performance
• Uphold hotel policies, safety standards, and brand service guidelines at all times
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education & Experience Requirements
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• 3-4 years experience with Food and Beverage
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Strong knowledge of food and beverage menus, including preparation and presentation standards
• Proficiency in point-of-sale (POS) systems and order-taking procedures
• Knowledge of hotel policies, services, and room layouts to assist guests effectively
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with guests, servers, kitchen staff as well as the telephone
• Strong organizational skills to manage orders and ensure timely service
• Knowledgeable of 5-star standards
• Ability to handle guest complaints and service issues in a professional manner
• In-depth knowledge of food safety, sanitation standards, and health regulations
• Strong problem-solving skills to address service challenges and guest requests
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to foster a collaborative team environment
• Attention to detail in ensuring order accuracy and quality of service
• Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure or during peak service times
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple orders simultaneously
• Ability to delegate and supervise effectively
• Ability to lead, train, and motivate a team to deliver high-quality service
• Good command of the English language

Work Environment & Physical Demands
• Ability to reach, crouch, kneel, stand, walk or be on your feet for extended periods of time
• Regularly work in wet, hot and humid conditions for extended periods of time and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces
• Must be able to occasionally lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance (weight limits can vary according to position, but no more than 50)
