Job description


Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Security Officer, you will be expected to provide a reasonable safe and secure environment for all who enter Dignity Health's properties and to assure the physical security of buildings and grounds. It is expected that the Security Officer will demonstrate behavior consistent with the Dignity Health's Core Values and Humankindness. You will also support Dignity Health's strategic plan and the goals and direction of the quality improvement/process improvement activities.

Every day you will ensure a safe and secure environment for medical staff, employees, patients and visitors within the hospital or healthcare setting.

To be successful in this role, you must have proactive security measures, strong interpersonal skills, keen observation and adherence to protocols.

  • Patrol on foot and by vehicle the facility and grounds, all perimeter buildings and posts
  • Regulate parking by employees and visitors and escorting employees
  • Responds to calls for assistance in a timely and prudent manner using due regard and exercising Safety Protocols at all times. Assistance calls include, but are not limited to: control of violent or unruly patients and visitors, crimes committed on hospital property

  • Report and document all accidents, incidents, suspicious activities, safety/fire hazards and other security related situations

Job Requirements

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Six (6) months experience as a Security Officer in a hospital or healthcare setting, prior law enforcement or military service; or One (1) year experience as a Security Officer
  • Valid Arizona State Driver's License
  • American Heart Association-issued Basic Life Support (BLS) card within 90 days of hire

Preferred

  • International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Basic Training for Healthcare Security Officer
