What is a digitization specialist?

Digitization Specialists are professionals responsible for converting physical documents, images, audio, and other materials into digital formats. They use specialized equipment and software to scan, organize, and preserve data, ensuring it is accessible and secure for future use. Their work is vital in libraries, museums, archives, and organizations aiming to preserve historical records or streamline information management. Digitization Specialists also maintain metadata, follow preservation standards, and may troubleshoot technical issues during the digitization process.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a digitization specialist?

To thrive as a Digitization Specialist, you need expertise in digital imaging, metadata standards, and information management, often supported by a degree in library science, information technology, or a related field. Familiarity with scanning equipment, digital asset management systems, and preservation software is typically required, along with certifications such as Certified Digital Archives Specialist (DAS) being advantageous. Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate with diverse teams are important soft skills in this role. These competencies ensure the accurate, efficient, and secure conversion of physical materials to digital formats, preserving accessibility and integrity for future use.

A Digitization Specialist often encounters challenges such as deteriorating physical materials, inconsistent formats, and obsolete media types. Ensuring the accurate capture of information from fragile or damaged documents requires both technical skill and patience. Reporting to the Head of Digital Campaign Management, this individual contributor role focuses on delivering high-quality, timely integrated campaigns across search, digital/social advertising, email marketing, and web landing pages.

Serving as the primary liaison between Key Account Managers, Business/Marketing teams, and specialized channel leads, you will translate campaign briefs into intuitive digital user flows that drive brand awareness, engagement, and measurable customer demand.

 Key Responsibilities
  • Execute end-to-end digital customer journeys across web and email channels, including landing pages, automated email workflows, and organic search optimization.

  • Participate actively in campaign kick-off meetings to ensure a thorough understanding of the campaign brief, intent, target audience, and deliverables.

  • Oversee content quality, artifact development, campaign coding, email flows, search ads, and vanity URL/redirect setups.

  • Consult with stakeholders on creative content placement within pre-designed templates, providing data-driven recommendations and channel best practices.

  • Coordinate campaign launches by publishing channel creative, activating search ads, conducting A/B testing, and delivering collected leads to regional or country CRM teams.

  • Ensure end-to-end campaign assembly quality, engaging technical Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) as needed to bring complex digital assets into production.

  • Prepare and distribute campaign instruction packages to participating global regions, gathering localized feedback and coordinating regional adaptations.

  • Monitor live campaign performance data to capture insights, identify optimization opportunities, and apply best practices to future deployments.

 Qualifications & Required Skills
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Information Science, Digital/Interactive Communications, or a related field required.

  • Experience: 3 to 5 years of dedicated experience executing multi-channel digital marketing campaigns, channel drive-to strategies, or web design initiatives.

  • Hands-on Tech Stack: Practical experience managing digital channels including email automation, demand generation landing pages, organic/paid search, and Content Management Systems (CMS).

  • System Experience (Preferred): Prior experience working with enterprise digital platforms such as Sprinklr, Eloqua, or Scrivito CMS is highly desirable.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Proven ability to act as a bridge between account managers, regional marketing leads, digital specialists, and global stakeholders across different time zones.

  • Analytical & Project Management: Exceptional attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and a self-starter mindset capable of independently managing tight deadlines in a fast-paced agency environment.
