Job Summary

The Web and Digital Strategy Manager is a full-time position thatmanages web and other digital needs for initiatives of the InternalCommunications unit, housed inside University Communications andMarketing. This position works with all communications leaders andother colleagues across the unit to provide direct web support aswell as strategic guidance for the Human Resources (HR),Information Technology (IT) and Indiana University (IU) Global webportfolios.

Department-Specific Responsibilities
  • Leads strategic planning, governance, and ongoing managementfor the Internal Communications web portfolio, establishinglong-term digital roadmaps aligned with university priorities.
  • Supervises process for and completes build-out and/or edits asneeded for updated web needs for University Administration (UA)units served by the Internal Communications unit.
  • Maintains workflow consistent with broader UA web team toensure seamless process and service.
  • Manages web project intake, prioritization, timelines, risks,and resource allocation.
  • Oversees and provides guidance on digital best practices anduniversity brand guidelines.
  • Serves as the primary web strategy consultant for seniorleaders and stakeholders across IU Global, HR, and UniversityInformation Technology Services (UITS).
  • Builds collaborative relationships with technical teams,communications staff, and campus partners.
  • Collaborates to provide web analysis expertise to otherfunctional teams inside Internal Communications, including but notlimited to leadership, content, audience strategy and IU Todayteams.
  • Contributes additional support for other UA initiatives andprojects.
  • Explores AI communication tools and technologies to enhancedigital strategies.
  • Ensures compliance with university web standards, accessibilityrequirements (WCAG), and digital governance policies.
  • Uses Google Analytics, SiteImprove, and other reporting toolsto evaluate website performance and recommend improvements.
General Responsibilities
  • Independently creates basic and complex communications forprint and e-distribution on behalf of department or largemulti-faceted department and in support of departmental goals andobjectives; communications may be interdepartmental; staff,faculty, or student-focused; or external.
  • Responds to inquiries and requests and explains policies,procedures, and context of communications.
  • Manages relationships with various internal and externalstakeholders and creates communications coverage for relevantinitiatives, events, and programs.
  • Prepares communications timelines and shares progress ofcommunications toward relevant deadlines with manager, teammembers, and other relevant constituents.
  • Regularly monitors relevant social media and news sites;researches relevant subject matter to increase knowledge in area(s)of specialty.
  • Utilizes various communications software programs and deliverscommunications in multiple formats to a variety of audiences.
  • Monitors industry trends and best practices and makes processand operational recommendations to manager.
  • May provide guidance to lower-level CommunicationsGeneralists.
