Position Summary:  

The The Director of Marketing Technology serves as a key leader on our Martech team. This individual will possess agency and client experience, as this role will be client-facing. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing owned digital infrastructure across websites, CRM platforms, marketing automation, SEO, analytics, reporting, digital customer experience initiatives for both agency and client engagements. 

This individual will also lead the development and optimization of agency-owned technology solutions, including agenCU. This includes driving platform enhancements, overseeing the growth and maintenance of templates and resources, prioritizing new feature development, and coordinating with the support team to ensure ongoing system performance, usability and alignment with business objectives. 

The The Director of Marketing Technology serves as the bridge between business objectives and technical execution, translating organizational goals into scalable digital solutions that drive measurable results. This individual will provide strategic leadership, implementation guidance, quality assurance, and operational oversight of Martech processes while supporting and directing specialists responsible for day-to-day execution. 

This individual is a strategic thinker, digital problem solver, and collaborative leader with experience managing Martech platforms, digital ecosystems, and cross-functional projects. They possess a strong understanding of web technologies such as WordPress and other block editors, CRM systems, SEO, analytics, and marketing automation platforms including HubSpot, Constant Contact, VBOUT, and similar technologies. 

Equally important, they can translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable business recommendations that clients can easily understand and apply. They can confidently advise clients, bridge the gap between technical teams and business stakeholders, guide implementation efforts, and identify opportunities for growth, optimization, and continuous improvement. They combine technical expertise with strong communication and consultative skills, enabling them to build trust, influence decision-making, and drive successful outcomes for clients. 

Work Arrangement: This position is able to work hybrid arrangement. Expectation to work onsite Tuesday through Thursday, at the Lansing or Auburn Hills office.  

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm ET  

An offer of employment with MSU Federal Credit Union and affiliates is contingent upon the agreed work arrangement (onsite/hybrid/remote) and work location. MSU Federal Credit Union may or may not be able to accommodate temporary or permanent changes to work arrangements or allow employment outside the city and/or state of residency in which the new hire resides at the time of offered employment.    

 Compensation & Benefits:  

  • Salary Range: $110,000 - $115,000 annually, depending on experience
  • 100% Company-Paid Health, Dental, Vision, Life, and Long-Term Disability Premiums  
  • Up to 19.5 days of PTO within your first year, as well 8 Paid Holidays

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:  

 Digital Strategy & Architecture

  • Lead the development, implementation, and optimization of Martech and digital ecosystem strategies across websites, CRM platforms, marketing automation, analytics, SEO, reporting, and customer experience initiatives.
  • Recommend technology solutions, integrations, and digital best practices aligned with business objectives and growth goals.
  • Develop repeatable Martech frameworks, workflows, and processes that support consistency, scalability, and performance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational effectiveness through automation, technology adoption, and data-driven decision making.

Client Advisory & Martech Leadership

  • Serve as a Martech advisor during client engagements, planning sessions, and digital roadmap discussions.
  • Present recommendations, implementation plans, performance insights, and optimization opportunities to clients and stakeholders.
  • Guide discussions around website strategy and architecture, user experience, CRM strategy, marketing automation, analytics, and digital experience optimization.
  • Stay informed on emerging technologies, industry trends, and Martech best practices to support client and agency success.
  • Ensure alignment and integration across websites, CRM systems, marketing automation platforms, analytics tools, and reporting systems.
  • Directly manage and mentor the Multimedia Specialist and Marketing Technologies Technician.
  • Own analytics implementation and reporting infrastructure for web, CRM and marketing automation platforms, while partnering with media and analytics teams on campaign performance reporting as needed.

Web & Digital Performance Optimization

  • Provide strategic direction for site architecture, content organization, search visibility, accessibility, and user experience improvements.
  • Identify potential implementation challenges early in the design process and provide recommendations that balance user experience, business needs, and technical constraints.
  • Establish and promote digital standards, best practices, and governance processes that support consistency, scalability, and maintainability across client and internal digital properties.
  • Lead technical SEO and digital optimization strategies across client and internal web properties.
  • Monitor digital performance trends and identify opportunities to improve traffic, engagement, lead generation, conversion, and retention metrics.
  • Collaborate with specialists to ensure digital properties align with current industry standards and best practices.

Digital Systems Management & Support

  • Serve as the primary administrator and strategic owner of the agency's Martech ecosystem, including HubSpot, Constant Contact, VBOUT, and related technologies.
  • Support agency-owned digital products and technology solutions such as agenCU through implementation, testing, optimization, and adoption efforts.
  • Allocate Martech resources effectively across client initiatives, internal projects, product development efforts, and agency priorities utilizing internal team and other resources as needed.
  • Develop documentation, training materials, and implementation standards that support consistency and scalability.

Collaboration & Process Development

  • Establish and maintain best practices for web development, CRM management, SEO, analytics, email marketing, marketing automation, reporting, and digital operations.
  • Develop and/or optimize existing standardized processes, implementation frameworks, documentation, and training programs that support consistency, scalability, and operational excellence.
  • Provide quality assurance and strategic oversight across Martech initiatives and digital projects.
  • Partner with account service, creative, content, analytics, and leadership teams to deliver integrated digital solutions.
  • Contribute recommendations that strengthen the agency's Martech capabilities, technology offerings, operational processes, and growth initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:  

  • 5–7 years of experience in digital strategy, marketing technology, web strategy, digital marketing, CRM management, or related disciplines
  • 3+ years of experience leading, mentoring, or managing digital, web, marketing technology, or related team members
  • Bachelors Degree in marketing, digital technology, or other relevant domain
  • Experienced in website strategy, architecture, user experience, and CMS platforms such as WordPress and other similar block editor platforms
  • CRM administration, marketing automation, and customer lifecycle management, including HubSpot, Constant Contact, VBOUT, and similar platforms
  • SEO strategy, technical SEO, and digital performance optimization
  • Analytics, reporting, tagging frameworks, and marketing technology integrations
  • Proven experience presenting recommendations, leading client conversations, and influencing business decisions
  • Strong project management, organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to balance strategic planning, operational oversight, and hands-on support when needed
  • Experience supporting SaaS, digital products, platforms, or technology initiatives preferred
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, APIs, and data integrations preferred
  • Experience with modern CMS platforms and website builders preferred
  • Agency experience supporting multiple clients and industries preferred
  • Experience developing training programs, implementation frameworks, and operational documentation.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:   

  • May be required to remain in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
  • Ability to operate standard office technology, equipment and tools, which may include many hours of computer and phone usage.
  • Occasionally needs to move about inside of office area
  • Exposure to potentially hazardous condition, i.e. robbery. Receives detailed instructions and procedures to be followed to minimize the exposure
  • Frequently moves equipment or materials weighing up to 50 pounds for transport between areas of buildings.
